I am here for Friends

About Me

I believe we all have the right to as much knowledge of our town as possible. It is time to share the wealth of knowledge which is available through our own friends and family.

Is this truly possible???

Is Perth Amboy really this Fucked Up? From what I know about our "wonderful" city, The Love Movement is the only youth organization trying to make positive moves to help our community. They have put on a show for our students back in March. Now they are trying to put on a show for the rest of the city to enjoy, hoping to raise some money from donations to give back to our community. Their original location was set to be at JJ Cafe on Madison Ave. JJ Cafe ended up turning their backs on The Love Movement. It seems they are also part of the "Vas" puppet show. Could someone please explain how a local business owner would put an organization like The Love Movement in a hole after promotions for the event were already out. JJ Cafe deserves no business from any of our residence. I believe anyone who continues to hangout/drink at JJ Cafe is also someone who is against the Love Movement. All JJ Cafe customers should get out the knee pads, Vas is waiting for you. Shame on you Joselito, you fucking prick. The event is now at the Fatima Church gymnasium on June 21st.

We Finally have someone on the Board of Education that isn't on the Mayor's Payroll. Hector Bonilla is a very intelligent man with great morals. There are many high hopes for him to continue to use his good judgment and morals. Hopefully, he will be a great influence on the rest of the Board of Education members. Everyone must continue to be aware of what is going on in town. Get your friends and family registered to vote. When it is time to vote, get off your asses and do so. Hector received the most votes, but it was only one more vote than the next person. So don't think "my vote doesn't count", every single vote is capable of making a difference.

There's a statement in the Home News Tribune (4/19/07) from our great Mayor about the Parking Authority Scams. The mayor was referring to Charles Vargas. He admitted to using a Parking Authority debit card for personal expenses between March 2005 and December. "We fully expected there would be a conviction because he confessed to the crime," said Mayor Joseph Vas. What the hell does that mean? If Vargas didn't confess, our mayor doesn't have any faith in our prosecutor? How hard is it to read a damn bank statement? Perhaps he was trying to say something else. Maybe if he didn't confess, then the mayor could have protected him. There would definitely be no conviction then. Who knows, no one in this town ever knows what is really going on in our tax payers offices.

For everyone who thinks they are too young for this to matter to them, please read on, we have the worst of the problems. Whether you are 68 or 18, it all matters. Perth Amboy taxes alone will ruin our futures of owning a home.
A recent study has shown that an annual income of nearly $85,000 was needed to afford the median-priced U.S. home. Here are some examples. An $85,000 home requires a $29,228 income. A $254,000 home requires an $87,000 income. A $500,000 home requires a $171,000 income. A $759,000 home requires a $260,000 income.
With that all in mind, how much more would we have to make just to afford the new taxes in town?
From what I've learned of the way Perth Amboy works, we (the citizens of Perth Amboy) are not involved enough with the way our city is ran. It is time for us all to take a step up.
Not too long ago, I remember most of us being proud of what was to come. Today, there are mixed emotions throughout Perth Amboy.

What the Hell is wrong with our city?

Everyone knows that there should be other positions in town removed before we lay off any of our officers. Our gang violence is growing and our police department is shrinking.

It's time for everyone to start reading and talking. Between the link that I provided above and the Amboy Beacon, there is plenty to get someone started on what really goes on in town. Channel 34 also plays City Council meetings daily around 5:00pm. (although I have heard that they were edited at times).

It seems everyone who does their grocery shopping or movie rentals at the Shoprite plaza will be forced out of town to do their shopping or rentals. The Plaza has been placed out for bids for developers to build on the property. Chances are it will turn into more affordable housing like the rest of the town has turned into. There is another option for your shopping. Rumor has it, Eduardo Trujillo will have his own supermarket in the new King's Plaza. Is this a coincidence?

"This project is one in a list of the Mayor’s many economic revitalization efforts underway in Perth Amboy. The city, determined to reclaim its place as one of the state’s economic powerhouses, has attracted in excess of $2 billion of public/private investments as a result of its comprehensive redevelopment plan." Could someone explain how the mayor was able to get people to invest over $2,000,000,000 (that's a shitload of zeros) towards creating an abundance of "affordable housing", yet we can't acquire a few extra dollars to retain our police officers or pay our fire department properly?

I just confirmed that $11,000,000 was given to King's Plaza from the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority. Yes, I said "GIVEN". If they were given $11 Million, why the hell do they need another $2 million that could have been used towards the PAFD and PAPD?

I believe our city is no longer on the rise. Our schools are already over populated, yet housing is still being developed. Our Police staff was already below requirements, yet 8 officers were still laid off. Our gang violence is increasing, yet the new residential developments are mostly affordable housing. We don't have the wealthiest of citizens, yet our taxes are multiplying. Our high school started off the year with nowhere near enough books for the students. The list goes on and on and on.

I don't have any friends who want to raise their families in town anymore. Everyone who is still left here with a family is looking to leave. Who wants to send their child to a high school that concentrates 100% on discipline and no education, a school that can not afford to purchase books for the students?

**Let's no be completely completely negative about Perth Amboy. There are some positive notes. Our city has been creating millionaires in the midst of all of our problems. The people who are creating these problems for us are becoming richer by the minute. Let's all be proud of them. We need to start handing out keys to the city.**

A statement from one of our friends-

"I heard from a friend who is a 911 dispatcher that there is a lot of crime in Amboy but much of it is not recorded by the city because the mayor would like to keep it on the hush so that Perth Amboy looks enticing to outside people wanting to move in (mostly people with money who can afford the houses by the water)."

I asked around a bit in town. It seems this is most definitely accurate information. So if you think crime is down, think again. It's just not getting reported to anyone.

FINALLY - Something positive in town

The Love Movement makes it's debut. Great show! A poetry event was held at the High School on Friday March, 9 2007. It was held for the Juniors and Seniors, but don't worry, they plan on having many events for the city. Susan Loyer of the Home News Tribune, wrote a great article about the event and organization in paper on 3/8/07. Congratulations and good luck with everything Love Movement.
