About Me

John Bashaw has been singing almost as long as he has been alive. Beginning his vocal training in the 6th grade, John quickly became noticed for his pipes throughout his school years, fronting his first band "Dawg" in 1989 at the age of 14, he was performing with high school seniors that made up the rest of the band. Many more metal incarnations would follow with John at the helm, bands like “Mr. Sinister, Altered State, Silent Cries, and Nuclear Jello”, to name a few. John's real taste of the scene came with “Untamed” in 1994 (started in 1991 under the moniker “Shattered Dreamz”). After playing and touring Western Pennsylvania and Ohio, they decided to hit the studio to record & release their debut EP, available only on cassette (1994), recorded entirely at the Audio Loft in Ambridge PA. In 1996, John and Untamed teamed with Marshall Tucker Pianist Don Cameron (recorded again at the Audio Loft) and released their 1st full length CD, "Fear of No Tomorrow", which was hailed by Local Pittsburgh Music Magazine "The Rock & Roll Reporter", claiming a 3.5 rating (beating out Rush's “Test for Echo”). National Record Mart music stores in the tri-state area & across the United States began stocking their Cd's, and promoting Local Pittsburgh Rock. CD singles of their song "Who Am I?" reached the Philipines & "Fear..." went off to Japan. 1998 rolled around & they recorded with Shelly Yakus (master engineer of Edgar Winter, John Lennon, & Rick Derringer fame) at The Guesthouse (Tongue and Groove Studios affiliated) in Philadelphia, PA. The band called it quits in 1999 & the follow-up to “Fear…” was never released. 2000 would be a banner year for John as he got married & Untamed re-united for a “one night only” show. 2001, he saw the birth of his 1st child. In 2002 John recorded one track with the project "Souldrinker" at Studio Z with collaborator/ musician/ engineer Gabe Ceyrolles. The single was available for download on Souldrinker's website for a limited time only. John also recorded several songs with the group Supermonkey, but the disc never saw the light of day. When his next band HIDDEN called it quits in April 2005 and after only a few weeks of searching for his next project, Pittsburgh heavy metal guru's Overlord, quickly noticed the snakebite attack of John's vocals and recruited him as their new throat & front man in July 2005. That ended a little over a year later in August of 2006. Note that in the beginning months of 2006 John saw the birth of his 2nd child as well. Keep in mind that while MUSIC has been his primary job/hobby, John has had some misc. “odd jobs” from ’91- ’01. He now juggles life between musician, father, & husband. A recording project tenetively named "Coredriver" has been placed on hold until further notice...Fast forward to November 2008, it just seems like the right time to jump back into the "scene". John is "fired up" & determined to show those fangs & unleash that "snakebite attack" of his vocals once again with a NEW project called "30 Days of Pain"! More on this band will be revealed in the coming months. On another note: Aside from the music & "family" thing, John takes a special interest in HALLOWEEN every year (well @least for about the past 10 or so...) go over to 752 House Haunt
& check out all the carnage...
