Loosely translated, Blanche Dubois means ‘white trash’ in some French dialects - a concept of commonality between us all, and in recognising it comes the perception of beauty. A beauty that can be found in the everyday. The ordinary. Yet so very extraordinary to all that take the time to perceive it. This is what awaits the listener as they tune their aural senses to the beauty of Blanche DuBois.
Blanche DuBois is the creation of Nadija and Adriana Begovich, sisters who share a passion for music that is all too apparent to anyone who has heard and felt the heart and soul in all they do.
Recently the girls have been working with ARIA award winning producer Richard Pleasance on their highly anticipated, second long-player ‘All The Things We Never Say.’ With a resume that boasts names such as Augie March, Paul Kelly and Deborah Conway among many other seminal Australian artists, Pleasance is uniquely equipped to continue the vision of these sisters of song to its natural fulfilment. Pleasance’s pedigree is even more thoroughly confirmed when one recalls his highly successful recording career as guitarist/producer for Boom Crash Opera.
‘All The Things We Never Say' was recorded at Pleasance’s home studio in the hills of Daylesford, Victoria and will be released in Australia on August 18. It promises to be the realisation of everything Blanche DuBois represents. Blending beautiful harmonies and sweet acoustic sentiments into finely tuned pop songs, this album will make its way into your heart with just a little bit of a “country†swagger. Before you know it you’ll be a million miles away, lost in a deep, beautiful dream of love won and love lost, and both will seem as sweet as the kiss of spring sunshine on your skin. This is the beauty we all have inside us. This is Blanche DuBois.
To understand where you are now, you have to know where you have come from, and to this end let’s trace the beginnings of Blanche DuBois, who have been creating music since 2002:
-
November 2002: Raging Favourites (debut album)
June - Sept 2003: Tour of Europe (festival circuit)
April 2004: Slow Motion (EP)
April 2005: Love Only Hurts (EP)
In 2004 Blanche DuBois landed a deal with Mushroom Music, Australia’s largest independent music publisher. Since then, their music has been heard all over Australia and internationally via programs such as Home and Away, Neighbours, All Saints, Blue Water High, and The Surgeon as well as various television commercials.
Blanche DuBois has also graced stages alongside Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, Ben Folds, Pete Murray, Missy Higgins, The Bangles and even Joe Cocker. The band has also had several appearances at A Day on the Green music festivals in Perth.
2007 promises to be a wonderful year for Blanche DuBois, with the release of ‘All The Things We Never Say’ on August 18 on the band’s own label ‘Streetcar Productions’, distributed via MGM Distribution and published by Mushroom Music Publishing.
Thank you for supporting independent music.
