About Me

Born oop north - as you can tell by my accent - in 1974, I am currently honing my stand-up comedy act to a performable standard (which it isn't yet) and am one of the few people in the world who actually likes tapioca. I have had hemiplegia (a form of cerebral palsy which affects one side of the body - in my case the right) since birth. I speak German, Spanish and Italian reasonably fluently and French badly, and I'm currently learning Portuguese. My pet hates are Weetabix, people who don't know how to queue properly and the squashing-up of TV end credits when I'm trying to see which actor played so-and-so part. My ambition is to be crowned Connect 4 champion of the world.I am in training to do either the Great North Run or the Great South Run in 2009, for Scope, then hopefully the London Marathon in 2010, also for Scope.I also have a MSN space at http://cometorachel.spaces.live.com/

Economic downturn Christmas

I got a Boots giftcard, a Waterstones giftcard, four Wispas (isn't it wonderful to have Wispas back, eh?) and a bag of chocolate euro coins. I did my usual thing of deliberately making too much bread ...

Olympics

I haven't watched much of the Olympics so far. According to yesterday's paper, at the closing ceremony a London bus (a Routemaster, not a bendy bus) will drive into the Birds' Nest Stadium w...

Euro 2008 - best and the vest

So Euro 2008 is now over. It started with a fabulous display of synchronised cardboard box dancing and ended with a big grin on the handsome face of arguably the best goalkeeper in the world. Wha...

Unacceptable in the ’80s

Well, I'm loving Ashes To Ashes. Although there were many wonderful things about the 1980's - Haircut 100, The Smiths, many of my favourite films and, of course, the first appearance of the Boost...

Birthday

It was my 34th birthday yesterday. I got four big books of Sudoku, another Boots giftcard with £10 on it and a very funny book about ancient Latin. And I had lovely pasta for dinner.

Christmas

So Christmas is just about over. I got cool pressies: Roger's Profanisaurus (not to be confused with Roget's Thesaurus which I also own a copy of), a Charlie Red spray, a big bar of white chocolate , ...

Out, damned spot!

That big red spot on my right cheek, which is making my face look like the surface of Jupiter, is going down (I didn't even bother putting any concealer on it this morning). I'm using Daniele Ryman's ...
