In order to gain reward from music, music must be done without the expectancy of reward. You must give it your all, or you receive nothing. The greatest gift that can come from it is the transformation of your soul to its fullest potential, and that can only be achieved through love and devotion.
My name is Kathleen, born in 1990, grew up a 90’s kid in New Paltz, NY. My artistic journey began there, when I discovered my skills for drawing and sculpting. As a child, I was known as the “art girl,†because I loved art so much. I discovered my love for music in elementary school, when I began taking classical piano lessons. Over the course of six years, I learned from three different teachers. I discovered my passion for singing in middle school when I joined a school choir. In 2004, I moved to Seattle, where I really started to expand on my creativity. I started singing a lot, even if in front of my computer. Most of my practicing took place in my bedroom, but people somehow heard me from there. My family and its guest began to complement me on my singing. Singing made me feel great about myself, and I realized it was the one thing that I could do to make me feel better when I was upset. I proved that to myself many times, and decided that singing was something I wanted to pursue and always have in my life. I began studying vocals at Kaleidoscope School of Music when I was 15 (I have performed through that school many times between from 2005 until 2008).
I started a band in 2006, called Aghast. The project did not last very long, but during so the song “Lost†was written. In 2007, started working with a Nightwish cover project based in Chile, called Deep in the Forest. I recorded a few cover songs with this project, which inspired me to record cover songs on my own. I wanted a project of my own, so I took the knowledge I gained from being in a band, performing, and recording cover songs, to begin the work. Between work and studies, I started recording the ongoing project, “Lucid Dreams†in September 2007. The first song completed was called “Ganymede.†The song “Lost†had so much meaning for me, however, that I couldn’t throw it out with my old band; I re-mastered it in 2008. I am still working on songs towards “Lucid Dreams,†and look forward to releasing new material soon. Singing is a passion for me, and I believe that pursuing your passions truly fulfills life.
"When I listen to your music I feel like I'm walking under a winter sunset... It's mild melancholy, a bit cold but there is a strong glimpse of hope."
