Beatville Records

About Me

Beatville Records burst onto the DC music scene in late 1997 releasing records by the groundbreaking Eastern Standard Time and the pioneering Bim Skala Bim. Originally launched to document the bourgeoning ska-scene Beatville quickly became a label dedicated to bringing music lovers the best in ska, punk, power pop, dub, rockabilly, indie and straight up rock and roll. As we grew in size and notoriety we set our sights on expanding our roster to include more of the music that we love. To this end we released debut records from Denton, TX madmen The Riverboat Gamblers and avant-garde rockers The Paper Chase, as well as Long Beach genre mixers Bargain Music, and Peach (Featuring Justin from TOOL). We then added prime slabs by power-poppers Anne Summers, and signed the hardest working band in rockabilly, Rocket 350, among so many other great bands (see influences). Each of these records was barraged with critical acclaim. We tell you all of this because it speaks to our deepest belief as an indie label: Our bands kick ass.Dodging the many pitfalls that plague indie record labels these days (a story for another time) we are now coming up on our tenth anniversary! In early 2003 we relocated to Chicago IL where we continue the fight. Look out for great releases in 2007 from Sweden’s The Soulshake Express and Forty Marshas (featuring Mike from The Goo Goo Dolls)
