About Me

Nic Fugate is a drummer/percussionist who has been playing in the Milwaukee area most of his life. Diverse in many styles, Nic is able to play across the spectrum from classical percussion to hard core jazz, latin, and rock. While playing as much as he can, Nic also believes in spreading the knowledge of music by teaching privately at music stores and in his private studio. The studio is always growing.Nic Fugate has been playing drums for over 12 years. He currently holds a Bachelor Degree in music from UW-Milwaukee with emphasis in percussion performance. Nic’s many playing experiences have made him a very diversified player, ranging from small combo jazz to hard rock. These experiences include the UW-Milwaukee Jazz Ensemble, UWM Jazz Combos, alternative band Abstract Thought, The Charles Walker Blues Band, and musical work throughout the area. He has been featured on many studio recordings including 3 albums with the UWM Jazz Ensembles, 2 with the Charles Walker Blues Band, 1 with Abstract Thought, and 1 album with All Envy Aside which includes the award winning single "Burning Again". His latest accomplishments come from playing with the band All Envy Aside, MTV-U 2005 Best Music on Campus winner along with WAMI 2006 Rock Group of the Year. Nic has performed throughout the midwest and at big venues such as Summerfest, Harborfest, Taste of Summer, The Rave, Riversplash, Locust St. Festival, and Shank Hall. Nic believes in continuing the learning process, studying with drum greats such as Mark Pulice (Carmen McRae) and Ernie Adams (Al Di Meola) and attending clinics by great artists such as Ignacio Berroa and Dom Famularo. Nic currently performs as a freelance musician throughout the Milwaukee area and maintains a strong private studio.
