James Heidebrecht

About Me

James Heidebrecht is best known in the Canadian music scene for his work as an engineer/ producer; as former co–owner of Toronto’s Chemical Sound, his name can be found in the liner notes of some of Canada’s top independent and mainstream releases. But like many who man the helm at recording studios, Heidebrecht is also a gifted musician and songwriter in his own right, having released an independent CD with his own band, Chloe, in the late 90’s, before switching to the other side of the glass to help other artists manifest their visions on record. The Constantines, Cowboy Junkies, Daniel Lanois, Royal City, Sarah Slean & Hawksley Workman, and Sloan are just a few of the artists he’s had an opportunity to share the studio with through the years. Currently, Heidebrecht is putting the finishing touches on a 3-song EP due out in the summer. In a similar vein to Blue Rodeo, the Jayhawks, and Wilco, he mines classic Alt Country to create accessible songs and down-to-earth lyrics sung with conviction.
