About Me

Hello, my name is bob mitchell
My purpose here is to promote the Gospel of God's free and sovereign grace in the Lord Jesus Christ.
And
His Electing Love Toward Us

"For I am determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." I Corinthians 2:2
Joh 6:43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
Joh 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Joh 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
John 17:1-10
These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.
For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
Who are you, O man, to talk back to God?
"I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion."
So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy."
Romans 9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. Rom 9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
God has a sovereign right and authority over man. He can do with His creatures as He pleases. Who shall dispute with God? Who shall ask Him a reason of His doings? "Who are you, O man, to talk back to God? Shall what is formed say to him who formed it—Why did you make me like this?" Romans 9:20
"Our God is in heaven and does whatever He pleases." Psalm 115:3
Jesus prayed "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth" (John 17:17).
Message's from Pastor Henry Mahan “Glorifying Christ”
Henry Mahan's preaching is not primarily the man, but the message. It is not the preacher so much as the One preached. Listeners know that each one of these sermons will honor their precious Savior and lift up the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Pastor Mahan believes in the sovereign free grace of God. He sees all of God's plan and purpose directed toward one end of glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ in the salvation of sinners. His sermons are God honoring, Christ exalting, and places the Savior at the forefront of our attention, the worth of Christ's blood and righteousness on the lips of every saved sinner. If you love the God-honoring preaching of God's sovereign grace, you will not be disappointed in the preaching of Henry Mahan!

Psalm 65:4 No wonder David sang, “O the blessedness of the man whom thou choosest and causest to approach unto thee.” No wonder God’s election was so much on his mind and heart. It was the thought of God’s election that made him leap and dance before the ark of God (2 Sam. 6:21). It was the fact of his election by God unto salvation and eternal life in Christ that sustained his heart and rejoiced his soul as he lay upon his deathbed.(2Sa 23:5 Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.) Indeed, this is a doctrine full of joy and comfort to every child of God. God chose to save some in eternity; and those whom he chose to save in eternity he graciously cuts out from the rest of mankind in time, like a rancher at round up time cuts his own cattle out of the many roaming the open range. They were his cattle before. He simply rounds them up at the appointed time. God does everything in accordance with his electing love toward us. This is true blessedness; and this blessedness, according to Holy Scripture, arises from and is effectually caused by God’s election of his people unto salvation in Christ before the world began. Amen- I love it, BobBoy

Php 3:8-14***Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. What I Believe** I recognize that the gospel is not a theory, but a person; and that person is our all glorious Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Eph 2:8-10 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
My purpose is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ as the All-Sovereign, All-Sufficient Redeemer of His people.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Sinners saved by grace..
Consider this -- A Christian is one who trusts in Christ alone for all of salvation, who pleads His righteousness alone as his full entitlement to the whole inheritance of grace. A Christian is one who follows the Gospel of Christ and His teachings. Neither Christ's Gospel nor any of His teachings promoted legalism. A person who is a legalist, no matter what else they claim, is a lost person. All they promote is dead works and fruit unto death. True Christianity is the exact opposite as it promotes salvation by God's free and sovereign grace in Christ Jesus. *** FOR CHRIST’S SAKE Sadly, many today use this expression in a profane way, dishonoring the Lord Jesus Christ. Consider this! · Why does a Holy God do what He does for sinners? “FOR CHRIST’S SAKE!” · Why does He show mercy and grace to hell-deserving rebels? “FOR CHRIST’S SAKE!” · There are a thousand reasons why God should condemn us, yet, only one reason why He saves and forgives any. Why? “FOR CHRIST’S SAKE!” · What is the sum of the Gospel in three words?- “FOR CHRIST’S SAKE!” · What is your only hope of standing just before God, finding forgiveness and eternal life with Him? “FOR CHRIST’S SAKE!” THIS IS SUBSTITUTION- God saving guilty sinners through the sacrifice of His Son. God blessing unworthy sinners through the Worthy One- “FOR CHRIST’S SAKE!” *** God's threefold purpose for evangelism.• to declare God's glory throughout all the earth,• to see His elect come to faith in Jesus Christ, and• to leave the non-elect without excuse for rejecting Christ. This motive is God-centered rather than man-centered, and honors God's sovereign purpose to save an elect people. When the gospel is faithfully preached, this motive is always successful in achieving its goal. ***

** **Christ is all

I know no true religion but Christianity; no true Christianity but the doctrine of Christ; of his divine person, (the image of the invisible God, Colossians 1:15); of his divine office, (the Mediator betwixt God and men, 1 Timothy 2:5); of his divine righteousness, (he is the Lord our Righteousness, Jeremiah 23:6; which name is also called upon his church, chapter 33:16); and of his divine Spirit, (which all that are his receive, Romans 8:9). I know no true ministers of Christ, but such as make it their business, in their calling, to commend Jesus Christ, in his saving fullness of grace and glory, to the faith and love of men; no true Christian, but one united to Christ by faith, and abiding in him by faith and love, unto the glorifying of the name of Jesus Christ, in the beauties of gospel-holiness. Ministers and Christians of this spirit, have for many years been my brethren and companions, and, I hope, shall ever be, whithersoever the hand of God shall lead me.

** **THE RELIGION OF CHRIST

Every religion except one puts upon you doing something in order to recommend yourself to God. It is only the religion of Christ (which runs counter to all the rest by affirming that we are saved and called with a holy calling, not acording to our works, but according to the Father's own purpose and grace) which was not sold out to us on certain conditions to be fulfilled by ourselves, but was given us in Christ before the world began. It was long ago remarked by a good man that, "It is the business of all false religion to patch up a righteousness in which the sinner is to stand before God. But it is the business of the glorious gospel to bring near to us, by the hand of the Holy Spirit, a righteousness ready wrought, a robe of perfection ready made, wherein God's people, to all the purposes of justification and happiness, stand perfect and without fault before the throne."

Consider***

Beware of any man who seeks to enrich himself by the gospel. Faithful men do not seek their own things; and they certainly do not seek the things of others. Those who follow Christ serve. Those who follow Satan seek to be served. Faithful men spend themselves and gladly have their lives spent in the cause of Christ. False prophets manipulate others into lavishing riches upon them. Faithful men are men who are used. False prophets are men who use others to their own advantage. As you care for your soul, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves!”Faith is a living, bold trust in God's grace, so certain of God's favor that it would risk death a thousand times trusting in it. Such confidence and knowledge of God's grace makes you happy, joyful and bold in your relationship to God and all creatures. The Holy Spirit makes this happen through faith. Because of it, you freely, willingly and joyfully do good to everyone, serve everyone, suffer all kinds of things, love and praise the God who has shown you such grace. **
