Some of my most treasured possessions are books, given to me by my parents and grandparents. From bedtime stories to extra credit reading assignments, I have always loved to disappear into the worlds created within the pages of a story.As a descendant of William Anderson "Devil Anse" Hatfield – of the Hatfield and McCoy feud fame - history is a huge part of who I am. I even has two circuit-riding preachers in my lineage. Growing up in Southern Illinois, I enjoyed studying the settling and growth of the western half of the United States: the Trail of Tears, ancient Native American civilizations, riverboat traffic... the past holds a wonderful fascination for her. I constantly pestered my grandparents for stories of their youth, their families and experiences. Even my first car was vintage: Grandpa’s dark blue 1952 Chevy with a push-button starter.While being a writer was not initially the burning desire in my life, creativity has always been core to me. I am an accomplished musician with a bachelor and masters degree in flute performance who continues to perform and also conduct a youth choir. In recent years my need for creativity and my passion for reading began to merge, and with my love of romance, writing historical romance was a natural. I love a “happily ever after!â€
