Urban Portraits >
Urban Portraits is an on going street-art project curated by Fabio Campagna.Urban Portraits wants to locate within the international Street_Art those installations which, as part of the urban landscape and public places (clubs, associations, non-conventional spaces), aims at a deconstruction of the space identity, acting as new communication devices.
The goal is spreading through the exhibitions in rialtosantambrogio and round the city, bypassing the flatness of meaning operated by the media and the cultural system of institutions, a different conscience that goes beyond the political, cultural and social identity.
Urban Portraits also aims at supporting the “objectual drift†of the international Street_Art focused on a poetics of alteration and deconstruction of the urban landscape.
Urban Portraits consists in a series of exhibitions dedicated to an artist per time.
The first edition of the Urban Portraits exhibitions had held the works and the performances of Fupete (www.fupete.com) on the 12TH of January 2007, Paul Notzold (www.txtualhealing.com) on 2TH of march 2007, and FATANDSOWHAT (www.myspace.com/fatandsowhat) on 6TH of april 2007.
Actually I'm working on the second edition of URBAN PORTRAITS.
The events are scheduled for febraury, march, and april 2008 and they will be placed in Rialtosantambrogio in Rome (Italy).
Rialtosantambrogio (http://www.rialtosantambrogio.org) is a cultural centre located in the centre of Rome that aims at the development of cultural, artistic and social projects in order to produce a new form of knowledge and to deal with different means of expression.
Since 1999 Rialto has been developing a new conception of social environment breaking the distinction between mainstream and underground art center.
Rialtosantambrogio thus develops a project of cultural politics, wide open on every contemporary artistic language, through a line up of events that go from theatre to music to visual arts, and becoming a landmark on a national level for all those “non-conventional†artistic and experimental experiences.
