THE NEW:Soviet is currently working on their new studio album. What is it? Well right now it is somewhat of a punk rock dance album. But! you will have to wait because The Scott and Jay are currently putting the finishing touches on the debut album of the "The Meanies". "The Meanies" line up is as follows: The Scott on vox, keys, (and drums for now), The Carl on Guitars, and The Jay on Bass.THE OLD:Soviet are go; on the studio album "The Mechanics Of Prospereo Missoni". This is not your ordinary album though. "The Mechanics" consists of 11 tracks of music and 4 tracks of music and dialogue that tell a story, a concept album if you will. The story centers around our Hero (for lack of a better term) Prospero Missoni. A man who lives somewhat in a near future where earths population has become slaves to a government and corporate drug (Pleaserex) that makes everybody overly happy. Prospero suffers from a mental illness (what the drug was originally manufactured to treat) but has refused to take it because he like a small number of people left understand it's catastrophic consequences on the longevity of mankind. The album has the feel of an old Ed Wood movie mixed with 1000 watts of rock n roll and did we mention old analogue keyboards! And' lets not forget the Robots (ala Franz Kafkas "Metamorphosis")! Soviet is comprised of only two members Scott and Jay who have spent the last year in there basement studio cranking out music and social commentary. Thanks goes out to all of the people who stood by us in the last year (you know who you are) and we thank you for listening and giving us some truly amazing constructive criticism.
