About Me

I grew up in Endicott NY which is right next to Binghamton. There was a jazz club in town called the Music Box run by Glen Gardner. People like Steve Davis, Dena DeRose, Mike Holober, Rick Depofi, Matt Keeler, Sherrie Maricle, Tony Kadleck, Kris Jensen would all go down and play with people like Doug Beardsley, Dick Depofi, Alma Forez, Billy Fuster, and Glen himself on trumpet. I feel very fortunate to have had so many influences growing up. I am Director of Jazz Studies at Ball State University right out of Indianapolis. Part of my responsibilities include bringing in 4 guest artists a year to do clinics and concerts at the University. The past 2 years saw performers such as Buddy DeFranco, Karrin Allyson, Dena DeRose, Bob Bowman, Bobby Watson and Don Aliquo come in.Brent Wallarab and I co-lead the Buselli/Wallarab Jazz Orchestra out of Indianapolis. We are on the Owlstudios jazz label and have 5 recordings out under our name. Our last CD "Basically Baker" got 4.5 out of 5 stars in a Downbeat review.I am married to a dancer/physical therapist/pilates teacher Andrea and we have a daughter named Sophia.
