Born and raised in London, Hackney, King P. (born N. L. King) is still considered an 'unknown' in the industry. Writing his first rap when he was 14 the young mc has since grown to become one of the most talented up and coming mc's of our generation. With a flow and delivery second to none and lyrics overflowing with content his music has began to attract the attention of his peers, critics and industry veterans creating himself a strong local buzz. His reputation as a respectable mc grows daily and he has recently been labelled as 'one to watch'
Unlike many other artists King chooses not to limit himself to one particular style, format or genre of music allowing the growth of both his lyrical skills as a writer and his ability to reach a mass audience.
A die hard hip-hop fan from a young age King only used to rap as a pastime. He first earned his name in school and was then known to his friends as Kingpimp (they actually named him this) due to his well known reputation with the opposite sex. He later changed his name to Kingpin and then finally shortening it to King P (although now he is better known as just King). He began to write seriously in late 2006 and went on to record his first mixtape called "Jackin' 4 Beatz"(yet to be released). This was a mixtape comprising of already well known hip-hop classic instrumentals. Without a producer around this one one of the few ways for him to display his potential behind the microphone. The lyrical onslaught that followed allowed the streets a glimpse of what the mc was all about. In a fashion simular to that of 50cent, rapping over a wide variety of recognisable beats he was able to display the kind of lyrical potency that most can only dream of.
With a brand new mixtape on the way and his Debut Album 'United Kingsdom' released in December King continues to impress and a natural growth is visible. The content of his music is ever changing and his discriptiveness of concepts is unmatched. The future looks bright for the young rapper. We look forward to it....
