About Me
Born in Montreux, Switzerland on August 31st 1977, he takes up
the trombone at the age of 12. He attends a number of master
classes given by Paolo Fresu, Enrico Rava, Lee Konitz, Richie Beirach,
Bobby Shew,..
In 1998, he starts his studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels
under Phil Abraham. He’s playing around Belgium and Switzerland
with likes of Cyrille Bugnon ( Cully jazz festival), Patrice Moret, Luca Stoll, Tobias Friedli,…
In 2002, during a stay in New-York, he got to study with renounced trombonists such as Steve Davis, Conrad Herwig as well as Slide Hampton.
Since his return to Belgium in 2003, Gilles Repond has been heard playing with Philippe Aerts, Chris Joris, Pierre Vaiana, Jean-Louis Rassinfosse, Christophe Astolfi, Quentin Liégeois, Opération Dupont, The KMG’S, Marc Lelangue "tribute to Ray Charles", Z, « the attendant’s gallery » the production of « het muziek lod »…"Pour définir Gilles Repond: technicité, audace, rigueur, souffle et tonalité très outre- atlantique sont des qualités qui donnent envie de suivre de près la carrière d’un musicien.Lost, est un album enregistré dans l’esprit du jazz avec ce supplément de bonne humeur, d’harmonie et de dynamisme.
