ABOUT JON
Hi There, I'm Jon Dolan. I'm 29, live in Liverpool in England and have a professional interest in Films and Television.
I won the Disney Young Film Maker Of The Year competition in the North West in school in about 1993/1994 with a stop motion animation called "From Little Acorns".
In 1995 I attended Liverpool community college for two years to study media. In that time I passed successfully, made lots of friends and ended up with more embarrasing moments than you can shake a stick at. During the time I worked on Drama projects, Music videos and Horror shorts.
After a year or two as a web page designer and a catalogue call centre opperator, I found another foothold into the media. I joined the Mediastation programme, again hooking up with old friends from College and making some new ones. In this time I worked for the Liverpool Film Commission, Granada Television and "Shop! The Home Shopping Channel".
After completing my qualification at Mediastation, I went freelance and worked for the first series of E4s Dating gameshow "Five Go Dating". I also pitched a show idea to Liverpools "Channel One" which made it to pilot stage but never went anywhere as the Channel shut down soon after.
I worked on a short documentary about my hero Scatman John for a student in UCLA. I was a guest co host on Bailrig FM in Lancaster. I've written and produced several audio comedy sketches which I use for promotion.
Over the past several years I've performed Stand Up Comedy around my home town in Liverpool, Manchester and one offs in London and a house gig in Edinburgh for about 15 students. I have performed in clubs such as "XS Malarkey", "The Head Of Steam", "The Laughterhouse", "Fab Cafe", "Rawhide" and "The Casa Club". I also appeared on ITV 2s "Gagging For It" as Duncan Tate, but these days I do the same act just under my own name.
I completed a 12 minute short cartoon called "GITS" about a gang of old people fighting back against society to keep their flat block open, ending in global domination. I've also completed a 25 minute pilot cartoon for my collection of comedy sketches.
At the moment I'm trying to complete a new cartoon movie about giant killer Nits.
I've added a couple of sketch cartoons, and the trailer for NITS : The movie, below. These are here to while away the time until Nits is finished.
I've just invested in an Apple IMac and now can run my copy of Toon Boom Studio 4. I can now start work properly on Nits The Movie, and have an idea for a short film called "The Three Jons" which you can find on YouTube if you type in "The Three Jons VS Admiral Bumshooter" or it's prequel (which is better) "The Three Jons In No Socks Please, We're Jons".
I just got married in October to my partner of 6 years, Kerry Williams (now Kerry Dolan) But I am determined to press on with the animation, film and comedy. I've got a few ideas bubbling around my head so something interesting should be coming up soon.
