Double Stacked (NEW BASSPLAYER WANTED!)

March 2007. All possible ways lead to one other, with or without God’s intervention. It’s not a surprise for Mich, Quinten and Stijn that their paths intersect each other, as well as their ambitions. These music junkies definitely feel comfortable in a world ruled by music. A bass player joins the group (currently: Sam Balcaen) and in the month September of the same year a demo gets recorded, containing four songs: Kitsch Love, Bruise Box, Oxygen Guaranteed and Post Beating.

In our music, honestly comes at the first place. We want it to be straight to the point. That’s what’s remarkable in the lyrics, they’re reaching from incredibly sad to self-disgusting. Catchy choruses and musical complexes. Without forgetting one humanly emotion.

Maart 2007. Alle wegen lijken naar elkaar te lopen, zoals God dat wil. Het is dus niet verwonderlijk dat de paden van Mich, Quinten en Stijn elkaar kruisen, net als hun ambities. Het staat vast, deze musicjunkies hebben de smaak van de muziekwereld al snel te pakken. Er wordt een bassist aan toegevoegd (huidige bezetting: Sam Balcaen) en in september van datzelfde jaar een demo opgenomen met 4 songs: Kitsch Love, Bruise Box, Oxygen Guaranteed en Post Beating.

Muziek heeft bij ons als eerste bedoeling eerlijk te zijn, straight to the point. Dat merk je ook in de lyrics, die van schokkend verdrietig naar zwartgallig gaan. Catchy refreinen en muzikale complexen. Zonder één menselijke emotie over te slaan.

"A blur, a complete blur. That’s the only thing I can remember about the past years. I went through a lot of extreme feelings which were seriously related to each other. I remember the broken up relationships, the shattered hearts, the bitter pills to take. I remember going to school, acting like a heartless, soulless person, simply to survive. It was absolutely not allowed to be your own personality – nasty or not. I also remember the difficulties of living in that cage, not being able to express my feelings the way I wanted to. I often think about the few things that made me smile."
"I was not considered being a creative person - at all. I was just hanging out with the sports crew, but still not feeling the way I wanted to. Until I found out the guitar and music in general. It was a hell of a salvation for me. After a while I just threw away the books of rules and discovered whole new sounds. A brand new world opened in front of me. With hindsight, I was trying to work things out with my guitar, but now it’s the guitar that does the work for me. It’s a kind of best friend, a not-talking but understanding soul-mate. I found my way to express things by use of an instrument. Before that, I couldn’t get answers to my questions, just scars. Now the scars became more questions. But it’s less painful so I’m not complaining at all. It will hopefully save my life."

28.10.07 DOUBLE STACKED NEEDS NEW BASSPLAYER
Double Stacked is currently on the look-out for a new bassplayer. In the future they'll part company with Sam Balcaen, because of different interests and occupations. Anyone who's interested can e-mail to [email protected].

Double Stacked are releasing their demo at We(i)rock festival tomorrow at 5 p.m. ( website ).
The show in Antwerp on 13th October has been cancelled. New shows will be announced soon.

09.07.07 RECORD RELEASE.
The first Double Stacked recording will probably be released on 22nd September 2007 with a live show @ We(i)Rock Wemmel.
01.07.07 RESCHEDULING OF THE RECORDING.
Double Stacked are going to reschedule their recording plans. The process is now possibly going to take place at the end of August. They regret this little inconvenience and are really sorry.
18.06.07 RECORDINGS.
We will be recording one week in July and one week in August, probably with Wannes Gonnissen ( OneAss ).
Our photo shoots are doing well, we already have some nice pictures which we are certainly going to use. Thanks for so far to Lennert Mottar & Bavo Blanckaert!
