About Me

Born Jan 2007.

We do what we like and we like what we do. we love playing music for you.

The Terrapin was birthed out of a couple of bars in Long Beach, the failure of previous bands and chance. After Vanessa and Rufo ran into Alan at The Prospector in Long Beach, a jam session was scheduled. From that point until now The Terrapin has been keeping it real… real busy. The bands first show was in March 2007 at Que Sera as a trio. That continued until mutual friend Bill was brought into play saxophone. Yes, saxophone. Once they became aware that he could play keyboards and guitar, the sax got the ax. After going through a number of bass players, usually friends of friends, Vince joined and took up the charge.

Along the way, The Terrapin has done the following:

- Recorded their debut EP with Jon Hylander and mixed it with producer Alex Newport.

- Played on the radio on KXLU in Los Angeles and KPSU in Portland.

- Played shows at places such as Spaceland,Silver Lake Lounge, Pehrspace, The Scene, Mr. T's Bowl, The Knitting Factory, Charlie O's, Tribal Cafe, The Dragonfly, The Relax Bar,Alex's Bar, Que Sera, St. Rocke, Lil' Red Lion (Eureka, Ca), Ash St. Saloon (Portland, OR), King Cobra (Seattle, WA) and other places where fine music is played.

- Played with such bands as The Voyeurs, Vaudeville, The Flying Tourbillon Orchestra, The Monolators, Exitmusic, Free Moral Agents, Triumph Of Lethargy Skinned Alive To Death, In Sepia, The Hectors, Correatown, Divisadero, The Weather Underground, Stab City,Ray Barbee and the Mattson Two, Please Don't Throw Rocks At Us, Codpiece, Happy Dwarf, EKUK, Sleepover, Spirit Vine, Rocking Horse People, Swordfights, Summer Darling, Electromagnetic, Dead Sara, The Mumlers, Painted Cakes, Blood Hot Beat, Sunday Night Blackout, Voices Voices and a lot more we can't think of.

- Mounted a brief West Coast tour.

- Self-released their first EP, Kill The Terrapin

Currently, they are writing material for their debut album.
