About Me

Hailing from Brooklyn, N.Y., Tuviel’s parents took him to Nigeria, West Africa when he was two months old to search their roots. This trip reaffirmed his father's previous discovery of their Ethiopian Jewish heritage. They returned to America shortly after with the hopes of immigrating to Israel. In 1990, Tuviel along with his dad, his brother and two sisters stopped over in Nigeria, West Africa to visit a tribe of African Jews called the Igbo on their way to the Holy Land. At that time Nigeria's government was in turmoil and Tuviel and his family ended up stranded in Africa for over a year and a half. That trip changed their lives. It was in the "bush” of Nigeria, West Africa that Tuviel received his introduction to Torah study and Jewish learning in general. It was in Nigeria where he was formally introduced to Reggae through Alpha Blondie's hit, "Jerusalem." Things would never be the same. During this journey, Tuviel began to realize that music is the gift given to mankind for the purpose of praising Yah. In 1995 Tuviel and his family immigrated to Israel. Subsequently, he and his brother served in the Israeli Defense Force. After completion of his term of service as an airplane mechanic in the Israeli Air Force, Tuviel temporarily relocated to England to pursue Audio Engineering. While in the U.K., Tuviel had the opportunity to meet the legendary David Hinds and Selwyn Brown, of Steel Pulse. This time spent with David and Selwyn sealed his determination to pursue a career in reggae production. In February 2006, Tuviel moved to the Bay Area where he met his beautiful wife and soul mate. Ever since Africa, he has been writing, producing and playing reggae. He has recently produced Queen Makedah's sophomore album, "Spiritual Healing" and has played with original founding members of the Twinkle Brothers, Ras Michael and the band Roots Afrika formed by Alpha Blondie's original bass player, just to name a few. His dream is to see Yah's name elevated through the music, Roots Reggae!
