SupaHot Beats'....Supa Model

About Me

Imagine a dimly lit café on a cool autumn’s evening, the sun’s retreated to night time’s dusk…the electricity of anticipation fills the place, the clanking of instruments clatter behind the stage’s curtain, it’s show time! With a sultry cognac smoothed out vocal delivery, Nikkiya positions herself to become a mainstay in Urban/Soul music. Her debut release Supa Model is collection of life experiences channeled with a crunk southern soul delivery. “I was raised in the south, and I do have a rowdy side which makes me sort of crunk…there are two sides to me, so at times I am considered earthy…I’m very in tune with my emotions and spirituality…all of which are reflected in my song lyrics,” states Nikkiya.Nurtured in a very diverse & cultured upbringing, Nikkiya who is of Panamanian & African-American decent has traveled the world over. “Being a daughter in a military family I’ve spent more years abroad in other countries than I have living here in the US,” discloses Nikkiya, “I’ve always been a performer and I am big fan of the soulful singers of the 80s who have inspired me to finally do my thing; artist such as Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, Stephanie Mills, Regina Bell, Sade, Whitney Houston, and basically anything my mother had playing in the house, I was listening to it.”Returning stateside and looking to shape her future Nikkiya enrolled into the University of South Carolina to pursue a degree in Journalism, “I always knew I wanted to work in front of the camera,” admits Nikkiya who had also landed a co-hosting role on a local video/music television show (In Da Citi), and as destiny would have it Nikkiya was invited by an associate of her ex-boyfriend to check out a recording session for another artist at her soon to be label home SupaHot Beats, Inc. “During the session I was really feeling the music and I started to just come up with lyrics and a melody and that’s when the producer overheard me and over a couple of months of negotiating I got signed,” recalls Nikkiya. Shortly after joining the SupaHot Beats team, Nikkiya became the host of another local television series that would expose her for two season to over 25,000 viewers weekly in Columbia, SC, and to a more impressive 300,000 viewers weekly in Atlanta, GA for the Independent Music Revue; which aired on both the WB and UPN stations.Relatively a novice to the techniques of a recording studio when signed, Nikkiya reflects, “I remember first going into the booth…it was a scary place because it was just me, and I was very nervous about messing up and other people hearing me mess up on the other side of the glass and on the boards.” Confidently poised a year later to present day Nikkiya has been on the warpath perfecting her natural God given gift/craft from serving as opening performer for R&B Chanteuse Faith Evans, Crunk & B princess Ciara, and for popular national radio shock jock Wendy Williams. “It was most certainly a blessing having the opportunity to share the stage with artists who are and have made their mark on the industry,” states Nikkiya who also performed at the La Pink Fashion Festival in Washington, DC, an event saluting breast cancer survivors, “It meant a lot for me to be out there performing because my mother is breast cancer survivor…and it was my way of giving back,” states Nikkiya. With new found confidence, experience under her belt, and a spirit of a humanitarian Nikkiya readies her debut release, Supa Model, as the flagship artist for her label home, Supa Hot Beats, Inc. Working closely with her producer, Will Power who dubbed Nikkiya and her album “Supa Model” due to Nikkiya’s mahogany tinged skin, height, and overall style.Supa Model delves into the psyche & experiences that most people encounter in life’s journey through relationships, pain, joy, and the discovery of self. Leading with the snap your finger hand clapper single “So Long,” which is a song for all lovers scorned by their significant other will surely become a hit with it’s club banging syncopated rhythm. Meanwhile on the controversial but all so true “Tender Memories,” Nikkiya expresses the notion of being in love but cheating emotionally with another, a track surely that many can relate to but not openly admit to.Epitomizing the term “artist,” Nikkiya trail blazes her own indelible mark on an industry thirsty for truth & soul with a relatable human touch, this “Supa Model” is sure to make you do a double take! For Additional Information Contact: Will Power, PR Coordinator OmniMedia PR 404.350.8480 / 803.240.4174 [email protected]
