Miss Chica

Me....Miss Chica a DJing Technical Clerk! Originally from Manchester, but currently residing in York where I've been for 3 yrs....before that was in the big schmoke that is Landan Tarn for 11 years. Spent the last 5 yrs of my time down south working in A&R at Sony and Universal Music - not really 'working' as you know it...remind me again why I left at moved to Yorkshire!!Worked as an A&R Co-ordinator for Manifesto Records (Universal), where I got to work along side Def Jam & Talkin' Loud peeps. Spent most of my time running into Gilles Peterson's office, saying 'what is this track'...learnt lots from that man n is wicked taste in music.My day involved a nice 10.30am start, followed by booking studios for our artists, getting parts to remixers, drawing up contracts blah blah blah - then normally instructed by boss to 'roll up' about 3pm....heaven haha!Along with the obvious perks, free vinyl, cds, gigs, I had to deal with and massage the egos of my various eccentric and cokeheaded A&R Managers - this is the shite part and partly why I left for a more chilled out life that is ....Yorkshire!! I'm an ol' bird these days ya see haha ;o)Started DJing in '94, playing UK & US Garage/House (Nervous, Strictly Rhythm vibe) and had a residency at Plastic People in Oxford St. Worked at a record shop in Soho called Quaff before I got my own 1200's, ahh happy days.....best way to spend ya twenties! Met my music industry contacts in the shop and learnt to mix. The rest, as they say, is history. I now love to play everything, a confused DJ haha...played a few times in York n DJ'd for Gravity Control, the breakdance crew - nice stuff to play, fast funky breakbeats....love it..need to practise need to get out there! LOLLove music. Always changing. Always progressing. The older I get the more different types of music fit into the various moods/situations of my life.....where is it all taking me? I don't kno but I'm enjoyin the ride ;o)
