TEAM BACKGROUND:
Our race team has been together for 5 years now, when Paul and Dan teamed up in 2002, Paul came on as a crew member for Dan in the power stock division. At the end of the year Paul and Dan bought the power stock and there main sponsor picked up a thunder car. Paul drove the power stock part time while crewing for Dan in the thunder car. The 3rd year we ran both cars full time. In the following year we purchased the thunder car, Paul was moved to crew chief and we parked the power stock. During our fifth year together we ran the thunder car full time and left the power stock on jack stands. Between Paul and Dan they have 27 years into racing, from helping in the garage to driving and crew chiefing.
TEAM ACHIEVEMENTS:
2002 – We competed in the power stock division with Dan driving and Paul as a crewmember, we took 3rd in points, only 1 point from 2nd place, and 30 points from 1st place.
2003 – Dan moved up to the thunder car division, with Paul as a crew member, we finished tied for 11th in points and rookie of the year. After the tiebreaker, we ended up in 12th place and runner up for rookie of the year. Paul also drove the power stock part-time.
2004 – This year Dan raced fulltime in thunder cars and Paul raced fulltime in power stocks, we also lost our crew chief and 2 key crewmembers during the year to other family obligations. Running short on help and funds, Paul parked the power stock and we attempted to salvage a decent finish in thunder cars, sadly we only ended up in 15th.
2005 – We decided to run the thunder car division full time with Paul as the new crew chief and Dan as the driver. We started the first part of the year in the top 10, but due to many crew changes, and Paul’s first year as crew chief we were only able to finish 12th in points.
2006 – With adding three new crew members and having our main sponsor become a secondary sponsor we entered the season hoping to take every green flag throughout the season. We did manage to take every green flag, as well as finishing every race. For almost the whole first half of the season we stayed in the top ten, but due to Dan having to save on equipment, and only being able to do what was necessary to keep the car safe and somewhat competitive, due to a financial shortage, we missed the top ten and ended up in 13th place at year end. The good news to carry to next year is we did have one top five 3 top ten finishes in the last five races, we also have all three crew members staying with us throughout the off season and next year.
TEAMS OBJECTIVES FOR 2007:
This year with Paul returning as crew chief, all three crew members coming back fulltime, and Dan as our driver we plan on being a legitimate top 10 competitor throughout the entire year. Elko Speedway has also implemented NASCAR’s race for the chase, at Elko Speedway we use the first 17 weeks to determine who the top ten competitors will be to compete in the race for the chase, which is the last 5 races. We know we have a solid chance to be one of the best thunder cars on the track week in and week out, all we need to put our best foot forward is to get some assistance from our sponsors in the financial aspect of racing. We also plan on running at other tracks during our off weeks, tracks that we have in mind during the point’s race year are Raceway Park and I-94 Speedway. Once the season is over we plan on running thunder car nationals at Elko Speedway, the Bahamas National Bracket in Rockford Illinois, and a 3 day race event at LaCrosse Speedway in Wisconsin to finish off the racing season.
BENEFITS AND CHARITIES:
2002 – Our team helped a family, who regrettably lost there youngest son and home to a fire, raise money by selling raffle tickets and working with Elko Speedway on a benefit for the family to help them out in there hour of need.
2003 – This year we worked with other drivers and Elko Speedway to help raise money for Victory Junction, by racing at special events and having there logo on our race car for the entire race season.
2004 – Once again we supported Victory Junction throughout the entire race season, and at all the special events Elko Speedway put on for them.
2005 – This year Safe Planet was the charity we supported throughout the race season and special events Elko Speedway put on.
2006 – This year we set aside the T.V. panel on our thunder car as a memorial for close friends and relatives that past away recently, we also helped support ALS who raise money for people with Lue Garrets. We helped by buying t-shirts, wrist bands, decals for the car, and sponsored a lap for the special event race Elko Speedway put on for ALS.

SPONSORSHIP INFORMATION:

Sponsors play a very important roll to any race team, with there support, whether it’s financial backing, discounted or free items needed, and discounted or free labor. Our race team now has the support of discounted and free labor and parts through TSI Transmission in Burnsville, by the Burnsville center, they help us with transmission, driveshaft, and rear end labor and discounted parts. Randy’s Auto and Fabrication in Chaska off of 212 and 41 helps us with discounted labor on welding, mechanical, setup, fabrication, and discounted parts. Maaco in Burnsville behind Burger King, just off 13, gives us a discount on painting the race car.
This year we are looking for some financial backing from sponsors. Once we have all our sponsors on board we are going to invite all of you to a BBQ, so all our sponsors can meet us, and our other sponsors, as well as us meeting all of you. We will also get our sponsors some pit passes so you can come out on a Saturday and see what all happens behind the scenes on race day. We will also get our sponsors some general admission tickets to enjoy a night out in the stands at Elko Speedway. On the business end of it, we will do what we can to help grow your business.
We start out by putting your name on our race car, on the back of our race cards, and leave notes every weekend for the announcer to mention our sponsors. Elko Speedway has an average of over 7000 fans per week throughout the 22 week race season; we also put your advertisement on Elko Speedways web sight, which is logged on to by over 200,000 people per year. With NASCAR’s poll on race fans, 81% of race fans when making a purchase decision will tend to buy from known racing sponsors, imagine what having your name on a race car, the back of the race card, on extra websites, and your name being announced at the track could do for your business.
We will also offer to hand out your business cards, fliers, coupons, hats, and t-shirts, or other advertisements you might think of. In the past we have also entered our race car in parades, and brought them to our sponsors businesses for special events, as long as it does not interfere with one of our races or jobs. That’s not all either, Elko Speedway has the PAX channel film our races and do interviews with drivers to put on the race show which is aired twice a week, Thursday nights and Saturday mornings. We also have a power stock we are going to race once in a while during the season that we will put our sponsor’s names on for free. With all the advertisement possibilities, as well as a tax write off, imagine what sponsoring our race team could do to help grow your business and both of our families.
THANKYOU FOR TAKING TIME OUT OF YOUR BUSY SCHEDULE TO REVIEW THIS DOCUMENT, PLEASE CALL EITHER PAUL OR DAN TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT OR TO GIVE US YOUR DECISION.THANKS AGAIN FROM W.R. MOTORSPORTS
