JB Grafix is owned and run by Justin Barnes. Justin started racing motocross at age 15, and soon started to dabble with painting. At age 16, Justin would paint race helmets for himself and his friends out of his bedroom. When word-of-mouth spread of Justin’s unique and talented artwork, he moved his growing business out of his bedroom and into a 16 square-foot shed in his backyard, where he used a gas grill to stay warm.
With a lot of hard work, passion and determination the painting business continued to grow too large for any shed. Justin rented himself a one-car garage, set up shop and officially established JB Grafix in 2001, at the age of 26. Justin has never had professional training when it comes to paint, technique or styles. He has created his own unique style through experimentation, making and learning from mistakes, teaching himself and settling for nothing less than perfection when it comes to his profession.
Justin Barnes of JB Grafix has been featured on Discovery Channel’s American Chopper, which highlighted a number of his well-known designs, including The POW-MIA Bike, The Fire Bike, The I-Robot Bike, The Comanche, The Snap-On Bike and many, many more. Justin has done custom work with Gibson Guitars, Harley-Davidson, Nintendo North America, Fly Helmets, PPG Paints, Armed Forces Entertainment and several other high profile clients.
Justin has also been featured on Celebrity Build and painted bobsleds for the 2nd and 3rd Annual Bodine Bobsled Challenges in Lake Placid, NY. Some may know him from the mass produced replica of Tim Ferry’s helmet that he painted or from the 2007 Winter Olympic MX Champion and WMA Women’s National Champion, Jessica Patterson’s helmet. And for you NASCAR Fans his work is showing up on the helmets of NASCAR stars such as Jimmie Johnson, Todd Bodine, and Kevin LePage. Justin painted bikes for Jon Runyan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Matt Light of the New England Patriots. He has also done custom paint jobs for Ultimate Cycles, Twisted Choppers, Jerri “Springer†of Springer Front Ends and many other custom bike shops. Justin’s work has been featured in EZ Rider Magazine, V-Twin, Barnett’s, Iron Horse and several others.
JB Grafix has grown into one of the most well-known paint shops in the U.S. and continues to stay busy. Don’t worry about JB Grafix becoming too big though, Justin wants to keep the shop at a size where he can continue to do personal, unique, one-of-a-kind custom paint jobs at affordable prices that will turn heads. JB Grafix offers custom painting, murals, gold & silver leafing and pinstriping on ANYTHING THAT PAINT WILL STICK TO.
Justin will continue doing what he loves, thanks everyone for their support through the years, and looks forward to the future of JB Grafix.
