Mitch is an award winning songwriter and storyteller.He was a "New Folk"winner at Kerrville TX,1st place at Merle Fest's "Chris Austin songwriters contest "(twice) 1st place at the Rocky Mt Folks fest. Mitch has told stories at The National Story telling fest in Jonesboro, TENN.Mitch has a very original sound,and perfomance. Influences: My greatest influence would have to be my Grandparents ,my Pa and Granny(Moms Mom and Dad)would sing at every family gathering, and my Poppy (my Dads Dad) would play claw hammer banjo every night for his own pleasure (I just happen to be in the room).I am open to all music but No bullshit! anything from the heart. tell me a story. lay me a groove. rip My heart out. heal my Soul.Neal Young, John Prine, John Hyait, Bill Monroe, Marvin Gay, Brother Ray Charles, Willie Nelson, Tom Waits, Emory Joseph, Miss Bonnie, Miss Emmy Lou etc.
