Icon Independent Films

...Icon Independent Films was founded by Director/Screenwriter Billy Tooma back in the summer of 2006. As President-CEO Billy brought on board with him Nick Mazzolla to serve as Vice-President as well as a Co-Producer for the up & coming company's film projects. The first such project was a DVD project entitled "Connections" featuring two music videos by performer Joe Mifsud. During post-production of the DVD Billy began toying with the idea of creating a short film that touched upon the troubles going on in the world at the time, and soon the script to "Brothers of Freedom" was completed and production slated to begin November 2006. Over the course of a month the film was shot and two months of post-production brought about a finished product showing the world the other-side of terrorism; the trials and tribulations through the eyes of the terrorists themselves. With their first film wrapped Billy and Nick had their eyes pointed to greater things...a feature-length film. Over the 2006-2007 Winter the two came up with the concept for a feature film and within three weeks Billy had the script written. Filming in over seven different locations "a.k.a Jersey" is a film dedicated to the life every twenty-something year-old led while living in the Garden State, and features some of the best untapped talent NJ had to offer.
