Discography Wardell Potts Jr. Wardell Potts is a drummer, songwriter and producer whose list of credits include three 1 songs, several top 10 hits, and has provided beats for some of R & B’s most memorable bands. His professional career got underway when he passed an audition healed by Leon Silvers who was looking for a drummer for the group he was forming “Dynasty.” He went on to record drums for Shalamar, The Whispers, Solar recording artist Carrie Lucas, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Janet Jackson and Glenn Jones. Most recently he recorded drums on the 1 hit “Miami” on the Big Willie Style album by Will Smith and on “Bring It All To Me” by new recording artist Blaque. Wardell Potts achieved commercial success when his composition “Show me the Way” became a 1 hit as Regina Belle’s first single ever also the 1 hit “Keep on Lovin Me” by the Whispers. “What’s it Gonna Be” a song Potts co-wrote with Anne Preven appears on Jellybean’s dance album “Spillin the Beans” which was the first single released and was the 1 dance hit on the dance charts. The track features lead vocals by Nikki Harris who was one of Madonna’s Back-up singers on the Blonde Ambition Tour. He has collaborated on songs with many respected writers including Arnie Roman, Leon Silvers, Louie Louie, Rod Timperton, Jellybean Benitez, Ruben Edwards, William Shelby, Kevin Spencer, Ken Cedar, Jerry Knight, Mike “Hitman” Wilson, Howard Hewitt, Dana Myers, Cindy Valentine, Sherri Byers, Susan Pomerantz, Joseph Gallo, Darryl Ross, Pamela Phillips-Oland, Darryl Duncan and many more. Potts wrote three (3) songs and produced two (2) for Tyler Collins RCA album, “Girls Night Out”. He has produced star search winners such as New World and has worked on songs with Louie Louie, Cindy Valentine and Motown’s artist Seville. Wardell co-wrote with Capitol’s artist Tracy Spencer and has produced South African artist Hugh Masekela, Desi B. also known as Keenia, Stevie C., Rosta Rebels and various other artist.Achievement awards-certified by the Record Industry Association of America 1. Gold Sales Award – To commemorate the sale of more than 500,000 copies of the A&M Records album and Cassette “As The Band Turns” By Atlantic Starr.6. The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers honors Wardell Potts Jr. writer of “Show Me The Way” By Regina Belle among which reached the top ten on the Black Music Charts.
