About Me

XXRUB is a rising, eclectic rock band. As passionate admirers of all musical genres, they take on various sounds; alternative, classic, hard rock, punk, reggae, progressive, pop, blues, gospel, ambient, and a few others... all of which you will hear in their upcoming album. XXRUB are currently finishing their album with the help of Producer/Engineer Fabian Roque of GT Productions in Los Angeles, CA, to be released in spring 2009!
Why this name?
XXRUB - the cure-all "rub" in the elusive and exclusive novel called "The Rub".
Do you play live?
SoCal venues so far. We definitely live to play live! We'll play anywhere it makes sense!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The worst thing about it is that the "art of the album", the appreciating the entire cd in its art form, is lost in the "single" playlist world of digital/mp3 reality! Other than that, technology is amazing!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, we want to stay as artists, and let business people do the business side! But of course, we want to be in a fair, win-win situation.
Band History:
The band formed in the summer of 2008, and ready to release a full-length album by April 2009. We don't mess around!
Your influences?
U2, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Jeff Buckley, Queen, The Police among many many others. We like to mix things up, and we're really big fans of music
Favorite spot?
Los Angeles- our home town, but we'll play anywhere.
Anything else...?
We see music as an art form; to express and evoke eclectic depths of emotion; deep, shallow, smart, simple, serious, humorous, nostalgic, progressive, quiet, noisy, and all hopefully captivating emotions. Searching for new ways through sound to create these emotions is always the focus. Ultimately, communicating a positive, thought-provoking message is always the goal.
Soul is the goal!!!

My Interests

Music:

Band Members:

Rob X: Vocals/Bass
Rob was born out of church music, playing guitar and singing for the local Catholic Church before he joined xxrub. Rob produced, recorded, played bass, and wrote most of the songs to xxrub’s first album called “Someday Never Comes” (available on itunes!). In this upcoming album, Rob plays bass, and is taking up the undaunting challenge on vocals. Rob is a huge U2 follower.

TheXiler: Guitar
TheXiler is an extraordinary lead guitarist. He’s a sound architect, a blues man, a shredder, and an incredible soloist. If you ever catch xxrub on a live show, TheXiler always steals the show with his guitar playing. If you listen to the songs on this site, you will hear TheXiler’s true talent. Why all the guitar solos on the album? “Because you go with what God gave you!” TheXiler is highly influenced by all things Led Zeppelin.

Bryan: Drums/percussion
Bryan is another musician born out of church music. Besides being in xxrub, Bryan also cantors and plays guitar for his Catholic Church near his home. Besides his drum stylings, Bryan also plays the guitar, the keyboards, and saxophone. B-Rye, as his friends call him, is a huge reggae fan.

Influences: Many!
