Mini Bio: James Harris, better known by his stage name Jay Crime (aka Crime Rate/Jay Swag) was born in 1990 in San Diego, CA. At age four his mother Stephanie decided it was time for a change. After constantly moving around through-out the mid-west, they finally ended up in Seattle, WA. It would be here that the first sign of a musical career would begin to show itself. While waiting for the bus at the age of 16, a friend was free styling, Jay, who is considered out going, decided to give it a try when everyone else said no. That freestyle catapulted him into a world he now calls home, the world of hip-hop. Soon after honing his freestyle skills, he decided to write his first song tittled "It's a Hit Boy." A song he recorded with a $5 mic and a bootleg copy of Cool Edit Pro. Now at 18 years old, he is considered a prodigy of sorts, having worked with the minimal tools to $7500 plug-ins, he understands the hard work and dedication it takes to create a song. Jay has lived the highs and lows, from having nothing but the clothes on his back to living the high-life, he has experienced the best and worst of both worlds. His song content is based on life experiences, from his underground tracks to his mainstream cuts, he embeds himself in his music every time he touches a mic.
