Andy Winter is currently living in New York and Berlin. He came first to Germany with a production of Cirque du Soleil after having lived in New York since 1988.He was born and raised in Vienna, Austria, where he started playing the drums at the age of 12. Two years later he'd already recorded his first album with a group of his peers. He continued to make a name for himself in the music scene and played with some of the most popular musicians in Europe such as Harry Stojka, Karl Ratzer, Lee Harper, Jimmy Woode, and Wolfgang Puschnig among others. He has made guest appearances on numerous radio and TV-shows while finishing his studies at the Conservatory of Vienna.With an intense desire for great challenge and improvement he ventured into the New York city music scene in the summer of 1988. In May 1993 he graduated from the New School in New York and since then he has performed with various artists including, Rick Margitza, Rodney Jones, Shabhib Shihab, Larry Goldings, Peter Bernstein, Frank Wess, Ben Monder, Ron Jackson, Brad Mehldau, and Mark Whitfield, among others.
In 1991 he decided to form his own project and in 1994 he put together a band with Bobby Broom and then in 1995 with Steve Kahn toured throughout Europe with both units. During his stay with Cirque du Soleil in Germany he started recording the first tracks of his current CD and finished the project in 2001 with a few cuts featuring Hiram Bullock on guitar.
