Glitter and Trauma was founded in december 2006.
In the following months they started writing songs, which were quite naive and simple (as their now more critical point of view has it), and most of the songs of that era aren’t in their set anymore. In april 2007, when Glitter and Trauma was only a side project for Virgile and PH, who were members of local band Back to Fitzgerald (www.myspace.com/backtofitzgeraldmusic), they recorded a song called “Daisy’s Appartment “ which is now on www.myspace.com/glitterandtraumaband.
In the summer of 2007 Virgile and PH quit their other band and started writing new songs with Joonas and Jussi, which sounded like “fast indie rock with a touch of psychedelic rockâ€.
They started their firsts concerts at the end of the summer and soon became quite popular in luxembourg’s small underground scene, playing any gig they were asked to play.In february 2008 when they recorded their other demo “This Cold War “ things started to look more serious, as they were asked to play in bigger, and more respected venues like dqliq or rockhal. They were also asked to play the opening act for The Wombats in "Den Atelier" but couldn’t because of unfortunate circumstances. In the summer of 2008 they played the Horse Stage at "Rock um Knuedler", a well-known festival in luxembourg.
The band is currently writing a more consistant set, with the project to record an album sometime in late 2008.They are influenced by the pop culture from the 60’s to the 80’s and by some of the new indie scene.
Their lyrics, mostly poetry-oriented and relating to simple human feelings, are written mostly by Virgile and PH, with Joonas and Jussi sharing thoughts and ideas.
Glitter and Trauma try to express sixites-inspired music as seen through the deforming lense of present times, thus their ideal set would reflect the mysticism of The Doors, the rhytmic audacity of Bloc Party and Kings of Leon, the tension of Joy Division, the other-wordly atmosphere of Bowie, the rawness of Iggy Pop, the entrancing riffs of The Velvet Underground, and the love of The Beatles.
