I have been doing something with music since I was five. Things artistic run deep in Mom's side of the family, so I have been blessed. I am now in college at The Milwaukee Area Technical College and pursuing my associate degree in voice. I have lyrics for over 30 songs, but left them out of these recordings because of things technical. I plan to add them to my compositions very soon, and am currently working in a studio making my first EP.
I was born in New Jersey, but lived most of my life in Pittsburgh, PA. Started learning to sing in kindergarten in a choir class. In sixth grade, I changed over to percussion, which became a driving force in my life with membership in a drum corp for 8 years, We won several state and national titles. I have also performed as a percussionist in concert, symphonic, marching, and jazz bands while in High School. Again in High School, I auditioned and made it in for 3 musicals, the last of which I had 7 different roles to play. In my Senior year of High School, I was invited into The University of Pittsburgh Drumline, and loved it. I have never felt quite as at home anywhere else than when performing.
I abandoned all things musical for a time to become a student at Carnegie Mellon University as a Psychology major. So, yeah... I'm crazy. I wrote lyrics and melodies to songs throughout my freshmen and sophomore years there. Those and others turned into lyrics for songs that, somewhere around 2001, I started composing with a music software package. I now have music for a bit over the 30 songs that I wrote {spoken word and sung}.
As a student at MATC, I have collaborated with my fellow music students in concerts given twice a semester, and also sang at the recently opened Discovery World, which is on Lake Michigan here in Milwaukee. I was given the chance, and took that chance, to perform my first gig last semester. I sang in an 8 part vocal rendition of The Star Spangled Banner at MATC's commencement ceremony, held at The Bradley Center. I sang with my fellow students and instructors whom all have very successful and incomparable talents, skills, and careers.
