How evil are you?
I am a piano teacher and I love classical music, of course. I have been a musician, either performer or teacher, since I was about 9 years old. I have been married for 11 1/2 years and have 3 stepsons, ages 36, 32 and 28. The youngest finally moved out last Labor Day! Yes! Yes! Yes!!! One of the best days of my life. Hey, the kid and I never got along. I have 3 wonderful kitties and a beautiful black Lab named Maxie. My kitties are: Squeaky, a "marmalade" tabby,Tiger, a black Siamese mix and Miss Kitty, a tuxedo manx (?). She has no tail, so I"m not sure. They are like children to me since I don't have any of my own.I like entering internet contests and have won everything from CD's to cash to GC's to a trip to San Diego- that was the greatest! I belong to several Yahoo groups. I have made many friends on the internet. One of my favorite groups is Care2connect. It is a wonderful, caring group of people all over the world who are concerned about animal rights, human rights, environmental issues and more. I urge you to join. It is free! Here's the link:http://www.care2.com/A BRUSH WITH A CELEBRITY:I was in Hawaii in 1983 visiting my husband while he was working there. I heard some people on the beach say that they had spotted Tom Selleck at a local restaurant where he always goes for breakfast. Since Magnum P.I. was a big hit at the time, I told my husband that we just HAD to go there for breakfast! So off we went and sure enough - there he was right across the room from us. He was near a windowed wall overlooking the ocean, dining alone. I noticed several other people in the room noticing him, too. Finally I got up my courage and crossed the room, knowing all eyes were on me, and went to his table. I don't remember what I said now, exactly, because he was so gorgeous in person and I was nervous - just something like "I love your show", blah, blah, blither, blither! I had a blank postcard with me so he gave me his autograph and shook my hand. He was very sweet. Immediately, other people started "bothering" him, too. He probably never went there again! 23 years later, I have a vivid memory of that morning in Waikiki. The most wonderful experience in my whole life actually took place over 12 different summers, for 3 weeks each summer. I attended the "Saratoga Potsdam Choral Institute", in Saratoga Springs, NY. Probably best known for its race track, it also has a beautiful amphitheater, gorgeous grounds and mineral baths, which it was best known for before racing. These 3 weeks were spent taking graduate courses in music education, one of which was preparing to sing with the Philadelphia Orchestra! Yes I actually got 3 credits each year just for doing what I loved! (Don't and can't sing mucha anymore!) We stayed in the dorms at Skidmore College, which has a beautiful modern campus. It was like being back in school again. Basically it was like a summer camp for music teachers and other musicians. We had such a blast! I got to sing with such conductors as Eugene Ormandy, Phillip Glass, Victor Borge, Eric Leinsdorf, Robert Shaw, Aaron Copland and many more. It was such a wonderful experience- we were all there for a common cause - to make beautiful music. Those concerts were SO exciting because we got to perform with the greatest orchestra in the world- well I am a LITTLE biased! And the orchestra members thought we were great too! I had a crush on one of them.. the first chair, second violinist. HE was such a hunk! I actually had an encounter with him at the track. He invited me to join him in his "box". I know what you're thinking! Get your mind out of the gutter! LOL We just watched the races together then he drove me back to the dorm. It was fun.. a culmination of all those years of having a crush and he didn't even try to kiss me.. Ah, but I digress. Anyway, I made some lifelong friends there whom I still keep in touch with, even though the institute ceased to exist in 1985 (boo hoo!). It has a special place in my heart. It was the best time of my life!
