DETROIT - South Africa is now calling the shots for rock stations across the United States. Track of Time, the new rock/alternative band from South Africa will be dominating the play lists of U.S. radio from now on, with the North American release of their debut album “Halo†this October. The album includes a blend of hard and soft rock/alternative tracks, some of which exhibit sound qualities under the influence of 1990’s bands like Alice in Chains and Nirvana. Each track on “Halo†illustrates experiences that anyone can find connection with, through its fiery and inspiring lyrics that just plain rock! “The album can appeal to anyone,†said singer/songwriter John Dirker. “It should appeal to someone wanting to find something new and to relate to.†The result: a quickly growing fan base of every age group. Manager Todd Walsh of Detroit-based Metro Records, who Track of Time signed with last Feb., knows the album will be an instant success. “It’s a very rare occasion for me to like songs the first time I hear them, but Track of Time was an exception,†Walsh said. “And at that moment, I knew I had to do whatever it took to get these guys heard.†The band originally found success in rock music, under the former name Switchback, when their hit song “Troublegirl†won them the 5FM Unearthed Competition in 2003, a national radio competition in South Africa. And with the release of “Halo†in the U.S. this fall, Track of Time is surely going to be in the spotlight once more, and will undoubtedly be in the musical demands of any true rock fan.
