VANILIN (real name: Valentin Albrecht) was born on November 7th, 1978 in Smirnovka, near Kostanay, in northern Kazakhstan.
He enrolled himself at a music school at the age of 11. Due to the fact that the school’s curriculum did not offer guitar lessons, VANILIN learned his first guitar riffs from his older brother Viktor.
On April 13, 1994 VANILIN left behind his school and his native country when he and his family moved to Germany. The move from Kazakhstan to Germany proved to be a life milestone not only in his personal life, but also in his musical career. The event inspired VANILIN to write his first song "Nostalgiaâ€. Actually he wrote over 50 songs.
The songs are mostly melancholic sad and always seem to wrangle with the topic of love. In addition, most of his songs were written in the Russian language, but there are some songs written in German, Ukrainian and English, too.
The pseudonym “VANILIN†was selected by him. It comes from a time in his life were he was in a serious relationship were he dreamed of having two children named VANJA and LINA. Sadly the relationship painfully disintegrated and he decided to adopt the name of “VANILIN†to retain the memories of his “desired children.â€
VANILIN’s first appearance and most of his following gigs were performed at different venues around the city Marburg / Hessen, it was in that city where he completed his degree as a physiotherapist in the year 2003.
VANILIN’s debut CD was released with the title "Naliwaj Bratok" in 2002. His follow up album titled "VANILIN-owaja Osen" was released in 2007. He cooperated with the musicians of the band "Karussell", "Orion Express" and "BeSpRiDeL", with the singer Rotjana and the rappers iLuHa and MC Solotoj.
