Chet has been riding since June 3, 2008. He has come across heavy rains, tornados, floods and some beautiful weather. Along they way he has raised money, been welcomed into towns by news papers, news cameras and people clapping for him as he goes. He was also able to talk a little at a walk for Cancer, which his mom was able to walk in as a survivor! Chet's mom also celebrated her 50th birthday and on year of being Cancer Free! Go Veronica! So the journey continues. Here are some pictures from the road.
Goal: Our organization is dedicated to supporting the fight to cure cancer. Our goal is to raise money to donate to research for a cure and the prevention of cancer. We hope that through our events we can also raise awareness and provide information related to cancer prevention.
Main Event: Our main event will be a 2,000 mile bike ride from Denver, Colorado to Denver, Pennsylvania in the summer of 2008. The organization’s founder, Chet Andes, has been training with Colorado Center for Altitude Training and Performance (ATP) in order to embark on this journey with the hopes of others joining him for portions of the route.
Inspiration: D2D was inspired by the effects of cancer within our own families. Recently Chet Andes’ family has been impacted by this disease. This year his great-grandfather and grand father have been diagnosed with colon and liver cancer and within the last month his mother has been diagnosed with cancer of the uterus.
