Non conformist, French electronic musician, Benoit Berry aka DJ Ben eSpiritU is the keys and heart of "Black Venus " music project. He's 34 years old now and takes inspiration first in the sounds of 80's very early electronic bands like Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Vangelis . Like a lot of others, he absorbs the 90's rave hits in Europe with energy and pleasure, like for "Technotronic, "M-a-a-r-s (Pump up the volume), or S-Express, Harthouse and Eye Q (the sven Vath Labels) from Gemany, in fact all the new beat and trance sounds comin from all Europa at this day. The rave-lation came for more than 15 years now , during the first techno shock-waves in France, as he's been in contact, since 1993, with the fantastic vibes of "Orbital", "LFO", "Sabres of Paradise", "Eat Static", "The Orb", "System 7", "Future Sound of London", as well as our national techno ambassador, Laurent Garnier ", when the House / New Beat revealed to the world their Trance expectations. He started producing music with analog synths and computer, recording at the beginning on K7 , then on Mini Disc and Dat, and finally, on digital files, playing lives in underground outside partys, clubs and cities hall, all over France (Toulouse (L'Ambassade, le Classico, Le Bikini..) Nantes (L'Algodon, Le lieu Unique, le Privilege, l'Xtrem, Le Synchro, l'Olymplic) Rennes (Le Chantier, L'UBU), Paris (La Vilette 2006 Feedback Festival ) and in Spania ( Villajuega, Le Rachdingue discotheca). His first vinyl E.P on N-joy Records , House oriented, in collaboration with DJ saint-Matthieu, was acclaimed and supported by French label" F-com" artist, Aqua Bassino. Ben plays as well computers, turntables and synths, and as a leader and composer for "Black Venus music", a beautiful alternative to usual dance acts. His sound is always very personnal, from deep to strong, from peace to "storm and stone"if dancefloor need it"..says Ben.", this should be "the sound of the morning" in many trance festivals...

"Black Venus" is the name of the musical project Benoit co-created with Béatrice Lagrenaudie, who plays some keys and performs voices on their first album, "Immortel".This long format project album has been written during 2006, condenses the liquid essence of Black Venus into its highly acclaimed , full mixed, first Long Play.Most of tracks here are mainly progressive-trance oriented, like "The Silver Box Secret (Le secret de la boite d'argent)", where acid synth loops speak with sequenced analog drum patterns. Some other are more dub, like "Equi-libra" and "Maux d'amour", "Kerem Shalom", or experimental, ("j'fais c'que j'veux"). Musicien electronique Français, synthésiste, Benoit Berry, aussi connu sous le nom de DJ Ben eSpiritU, a été d'abord inspiré par le son des Pink Floyds et des groupes de musique électroniques des années 80 comme Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, Klaus Schulze et plus tard KLF. La rave-lation est venue avec les premières ondes de choc Techno en France, quand il a découvert au début des années 90 les fantastiques vibrations de projets comme "Orbital", "LFO","Sabres of Paradise", "The Orb", "System7", "Future Sound of London", et bien sur, le grand maitre Francais "Laurent Garnier".Ses multiples influences viennent aussi de l'autre coté de l' océan Atlantique, avec les créateurs de musique électronique nord-Americain comme "Mike Banks" (alias Mad Mike, pilier du projet Underground Resistance), "Derrick May", "Juan Atkins" avec son groupe "Cybotron"..."Black Venus" est le nom du projet musical que Benoit a co-crée avec Betty Lagrenaudie, qui joue des claviers, (Benoit aussi, c'est son album) et sample sa voix (merci pour cela Bea ) sur " Immortel", le premier album sous ce pseudonyme, sorti en 2006, condense l'essence du son du projet "Black Venus" . Un vrai hommage aux premiers projets "rave", enregistré avec les meilleurs instruments analogiques pour une qualité de son maximale.La plupart des morceaux ici sont orientés trance, comme "Le secret de la boite d'argent (The Silver Box Secret)" , ou des boucles de synthé acid-house tutoient des patterns rythmiques "break beat" et un kick vraiment , vraiment costaud. d'autres morceaux sont plus dub, tempo ralenti, (Kerem Shalom), ou experimental (j'fais c'que jveux). En tout plus d'une heure de musique electronique progressive, deep, et spacey, sur le premier album de "Black Venus"."Monogram", le second album, est disponible depuis 2008, évoluant dans un univers toujours électronique mais plus ouvert, avec des riffs de guitare punk/ rock, des samples de voix tribales et des boucles de batterie funk.Le titre "Monogram (techno-funk edit)" semble etre le résultat inédit d'un croisement dans un ascenceur entre Funkadelic, Laurent Garnier et Hot Chip, véritable bombe succeptible d'atomiser un dance-floor à 109 BPM, pas un de plus...Voici un commentaire vraiment cool de Sonic Mystery sur Jamendo.com : "Good progressive electro dance music!
