ANOMALY

The story of Anomaly begins with a dare. Her first night ever in a poetry venue a friend she brought along for the ride dared her to get on stage and recite one of her own poems. That single dare lead to her first performance, a name that raises eyes brows, and budding artistic career. The definition of the word "Anomaly" is a departure from the common rule. Not a word usually associated with an individual, but it was the only word that Tracy Sumpter believed could justly define her presences and style. Taking on the word as a stage name shortly after her entrance onto the spoken word poetry scene in April of 2006, Sumpter, now affectionately known to audiences as Anomaly, is considered by many to be one of the best writers and spoken word artist in South Florida. Her gift for writing and performing has granted her the privilege of sharing the stage with internationally known spoken word artist, singers and emcees. A self proclaimed writer for years, Anomaly creatively stringing words together in ways that make her seem wise beyond her young years and somewhat savant. With a voice that has been described as the perfect pitch and tone for performance poetry, Anomaly captivates audiences with topics that range from serious social issues such as domestic violence to more playful ones like school yard crushes. Given the opportunity to host her own open mic night at a Starbucks in North Miami by 2x Def Poet Will Da Real One, Anomaly quickly showed herself as not just a powerhouse poet but event host as well. Her colorful personality and quick wit allowing her to easily make a room full of would be complete strangers feel like they are at a family function. A gift that has made her one of the most sought after event host in South Florida. Hoping to one day take her love for writing to the next level Anomaly has been quoted as saying "Whether i perform them, someone is singing them, or an actor is bringing them to life my desire is to see truth, positivity, love of the arts, and change personified in the world."
