About me!

I'm Carl Vaudrin. Composer, arranger and keyboardist. I was born in Trois-Rivieres (Quebec, Canada) to a family of musicians who introduced me to music when I was still unable to walk. At nine years old, I enrolled in Les Petits Chanteurs de Trois-Rivieres. There I received theoretical and instrumental training in piano and singing, under the supervision of Professor Monsignor Claude Thompson. I'm a classically trained pianist but my degree was in jazz performance (McGill University). My piano teachers ( Carmen Picard , François Bourassa , Jeffrey Johnston ) got me involved in many competitions but I soon discovered that this was not something I would enjoy doing all my life. After university I geared myself and started producing my own music. Then, helped many of my friends to produce their own albums ( Empreinte Galactique , Longue Distance , Studio Clan Destin ...). Soon I became known as the "Droïde", the robot... I've experimented quite a lot with music programming and sequencing. After 5 years of studio and live gigs I realized that if I want my compositions to be my bread and butter I'd better start doing it seriously. In the meantime I had developped a passion for film music. I would transcribe all the cues I enjoyed listening... Jurassik Park, Contact, Star Trek, E.T., Beautiful Mind... And discovered that my music had always been cinematic-like. In 2007 I moved to Los Angeles to study film scoring at UCLA . One year past and I was fortunate enough to work as synthestrator for Lennie Moore on the Watchmen Motion Comic Picture. Up here you have some arrangements I did for different artists. There's a mix of songs from a singer I co-produced with Benoit Vaudrin. Her name is Ingrid St-Pierre . The "Brown Eyed Girl" arrangement is performed by the amazing Quebec singer Julie Hamelin . Check out Julie's new jazz album coming up soon. You now can hear some of my orchestral work here on myspace. The best way to reach me is by email. Enjoy your life!!!
