About Me

T'Naya decided at age 8, she would be a singer. She proclaimed at the dinner table one night “I'm gonna be a singer and I'm gonna be a star!” and started to sing. Her mother advised her to “sit her ass down and eat!” But T'Naya ignored her mother's threats and at age 14 she made her debut singing an acapella version of Whitney Houston's “I will always love you” at the Partnerships of Excellence banquet dinner held at Eastern Illinois University, before an audience of 800. Here, she received her first of many standing ovations. At age 16, she auditioned for a regional Star Search contest and went on to win the R&B category and on to Regional Champion! This caused quite a buzz for T'Naya, and lead to a feature article in Champaign-Urbana's major newspaper, The News-Gazette. T'Naya's mom wanted her to finish high school/college before committing to a career in the music industry. She obliged her mom's wishes but she continued to perform at various showcases and /or musical projects that would help sharpen her vocal and performance skills in her spare time. She was awarded the “Do The Right Thing” Youth of the Year award, by the Urban League Association, due to her role in pushing for diversity in her high school's music department. T'Naya wanted to become more knowledgeable about the music industry, so she attended the 107.5 WGCI-radio R&B music seminar in Chicago . Expert advice was given by musical greats Ron Isley and Angela Winbush as well as Matthew Knowles, Avant, etc. Since she had no demo, T'Naya stepped to the mic and bravely sang Rene &Angela’s “Your Smile” to Angela herself! She received a standing ovation from not only the entire audience but also the entire celebrity panel! She got a congratulatory hug and words of inspiration from Angela! Angela and the celebrity panel asked for a demo, but at that time she had none available. T'Naya is not only an excellent vocalist with classical training, but also an exceptional song writer who has been compared to Phyllis Hyman, Anita Baker, Aaliyah, and most recently Brandy! She has serious range and she is an explosive performer that comes alive on stage! She currently has over 100 copy-written songs. During her performance at the 2007 Bud Billiken Concert an onlooker coined her “The Baddest in Da Chi” and the name stuck! She gives electrifying performances that leave the audience breathless! T'Naya has a way of peeling back the layers of her voice like an instrument that leaves the audience captivated! T’Naya won SOUL 106.3 ‘s Soul Searching contest and her hit single “I Like The Boys” is a positive message that's fun, flirty, and addictive! It is currently being played in heavy rotation! The buzz surrounding the song has gotten her the attention of local and national sponsors. So without further adieu, here she is….T’Naya Zsanay!!
