He was a pilot in WWII and furthered his military career by giving 32 years of his life as an Officer in the US military.He put me in full control of my first airplane at the young age of 11 years old. This created a life-long desire to continue flying for me. He later influenced me to learn to fly helicopters and learn to be a professional sea captain, while I was attending law school.He was always pushing me to do more and more, and now since he left me, I believe that he instilled these qualities into my soul, because I continue to push myself even though he is long gone. I will always love my Dad as if he were still with me everyday.I was with him at the hospital the Saturday that he died. His doctor was my dad's next door neighbor, so he allowed me to stay in the emergency-room and my dad was joking with the nurses, myself and his good friend Dr. Jim Berry as he took his last breaths of life!I have experienced many people passing-over through the years, some even in my arms, but this was my only experience of seeing someone with the courage to continue to laugh as he died.
