Lady Swills was born in Seattle, Wa. to the absolute best parents in the world. She is the youngest and only daughter of 4 children. At the age of 12, she moved to Indianapolis Indiana where she spent the next 12yrs of her life and completed most of her schooling and received her Masters Degree in Psychology. It was here that she met her friend, the love of her life. They relocated to Atlanta where Lady Swills began her practical work in Psychology. She interned at a mental health hospital in the west suburbs of Atlanta where she later got her first job. She facilitated group therapy with adolescents who struggled with addictions as well as provided parent support groups and provided family therapy. She also provided supervision to Morehouse medical students who interned at the hospital on the Psych unit. After a couple of years, Lady Swills then went to a thriving private practice in southwest Atlanta that was comprised of all African American Psychologists. She learned a great deal about psychological testing with children and she continued to provide therapy to individuals, families and couples. She also provided group therapy. One of the most challenging, yet rewarding groups were a group of urban male adolescents who had various criminal backgrounds and had given up hope on their lives. Lady Swills also spent time lecturing around the city to various churches, schools and hospitals about the dynamics of families and relationships in general. While in Atlanta Lady Swills and her husband worked together in Ministry. She was the director of the youth choir and he was the youth pastor. They spent many hours with young people around the city in rap sessions as well as general activities. This team was then moved to Maryland to work with Lady Swills brother in ministry. Since being in Maryland Lady Swills has spent most of her time working as a Family Therapist and providing Family Workshops, as well as continuing general therapy in local agencies. Currently, Lady Swills sees clients privately as well as serves as a Clinical Supervisor at a residential program that serves young delinquent males between the ages of 13-18yrs old. She also incorporates her skills as a clinician with ministry within the church. In 2005, Lady Swills co-founded Young Women of Destiny with Lady Tonya Nelson, a mentoring program for young ladies created to build self-esteem, develop character, and promote the social, emotional, and spiritual development of young women. Lady Swills enjoys doing therapy and sees this not only as a career but the core of her ministry. She continues to heal one heart at a time and enjoys the transformation process that takes place as individuals grow and improve their quality of life. She is the mother of two beautiful children.
