Las Vegas, NV - a desolate desert-scape of walking zombies devoid of many of the musical experiences found in other cities/scenes. The alternative has arrived. Consider this group a safe-haven for anyone who's only care is the music, anyone who's ever just wanted to rock. Tell the fat lady she's on in five. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you...THE OPERA!
The Opera Band BIO:
The Opera: Anything But Boring
Forget about the age-old thought of an opera being boring because the hottest band to hit the scene, The Opera, is anything but dull. Comprised of Jose (lead singer, guitar and keyboards) Miguel (guitar), Pablo (Bass) and Andrew (drums), the Orange County-based band is already making noise with its unique sound and captivating lyrics.
Conceived two years ago in Sin City, The Opera came about after Jose thought of interesting names for the newly formed band. “I was driving around in a work truck thinking of band names. I had always liked when rock bands did operatic things like in The Who’s Tommy and Queen’s A Night at the Opera,†but I didn’t want to use the word ‘the’ in the band name,†Jose describes. “I really liked the word
opera. It sounded dumb by itself, so a compromise had to be reached. Thus, it became
The Opera.â€
“Although Jose is the lead singer and main influence of songs written, The Opera’s distinctive sound is the mastermind a group of inspired individuals. It’s a collaborative effort; our musical genius is heard in our songs and brilliance seen on the stage when we play live,†Pablo elaborates.
When asked to describe their sound, Jose and Miguel agree they fall under the modern rock category, but with classical rock influences. “Most often, people mention that they hear in our music slight hints of bands like Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, Radiohead, Stone Temple Pilots, Queen and a few others from such genre,†Miguel explains. With classical rock influences, The Opera’s sound can be described as having edgy yet harmonious guitar riffs infused with up-tempo piano melodies with head nodding beats that make you want to rock out as you listen to their songs. Regardless of how they are classified, The Opera is for sure simply “Rock ’n Roll.â€
Having brought the house down at numerous Sin City hotspots, The Opera has acquired a huge following of admiring fans. Today, Southern California is their playground, but tomorrow, it’s the world...as they work feverishly to share their passion with the masses, one guitar riff at a time. And, with great and talented people backing them up, they are surely on their way to being America’s next hit band! Oh, and you won’t have to wait until the fat lady sings…
