About Me

With a clear sense of both the absurd and the severe nature of things, my music tends to swing violently from subtle folk overtones to punkish romps of abandon. In fact it's become a bit of a habit to explore the contrast of mood in my compositions. As a son of a Nashville recording artist and songwriter, I grew up thoroughly familiar with the paraphenilia and pratfalls of the craft. It was nearly inevitable that eventually, I would try my hand at it. Many of my influences are touched upon in the choices of songs that I cover. However my tastes do run the gamut . I enjoy polka and eastern folk music. I'm a fan of hip hop and house jams . I dig jazz .I dig orchestral classic music, particularly live. Celtic jams get my blood pumpin, nearly as much as flamenco and bluegrass .The music of language is truly compelling to me. I'm an ardent fan of slam poetry and rap. I have great affection for the rythm of Chaucer . Good music is everywhere and my ears are peeled ! I write songs partly to document new discoveries in melody or rythm . I endeavor to constantly write new songs and am an avoracious collector of covers. My repertoire is always growing.I invite you to enjoy a performance of my music if you can. Feel free to contact me for a CD ,a booking, or a jam. .....Dustin
