I am here for Friends

About Me

~~THIS SPACE IS DEDICATED TO MY FATHER ~~"Tony Cennamo was an institution in Boston" , so said many jazz fans. He spent 25 yrs on the air (WBUR BOSTON 90.9fm).He also taught Jazz History at Emerson College. After a disabling stroke in 1986, Tony continued his unique jazz show until 1997.I produced the show '95-'97 .This site will contain updates on Tony, so his "old" fans and friends can keep 'in touch'. Tony is living in a nursing home in Boston, where he is surrounded by friends and well wishers....more to come. Thanks, James Cennamo

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

My father influenced my life w/music: He taught me about Jazz,Opera,Musicals etc....In the early 60's he turned me onto Dylan,Odetta,Peter,Paul&Mary,Pete Seeger. He was then producer of a folk show on WCBS Radio,(NYC).He told me later on, that he knew nothing of Folk Music, but this was a chance to finally produce a show!!...He encouraged me to play an instrument, I chose the drums! He set me up with a teacher, and I learned Jazz....Of course I rebelled and took up Rock music...later Punk Rock . He also encouraged my art, and told me to stick with it. He frequently gave me books on cartooning and cartoonists..I listened..I'm an editorial cartoonist for the past 18 yrs.I have a peice in the Harvey Pekar book; SDS/a graphic History (Hill&Wang) ...I thank TONY for the encouragment.I know lots of local players and jazz fans thank him too. One of TC's grandaughters. His Nephew and Brother Jeez, do you think I'm TC's son!!??
