Saint Shawn has been ministering spoken word since 2003. Since then he has performed in many churches and coffee houses throughout Southern California and abroad.Born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Compton, California he attended Centennial High School where he was into basketball and impressing friends reciting raps that he had written.In his teenage years he joined up with some neighborhood friends and formed a rap group, where they would write, recite and record songs for the entire neighborhood to enjoy.In his early adulthood, he was faced with many challenges and heartaches, one being the death of his older sister Keisha. After she was killed in a car jacking, Saint Shawn spent some time analyzing life and its meaning. At this same time he was introduced to Jesus and the church.Realizing that he could express himself more freely with spoken word, he decided that God wanted him to step off the beaten path and speak life through poetry to reach those who need it.In his long awaited spoken word debut “Victorious: True Life Through Spoken Word”, Saint Shawn takes you on an emotional rollercoaster. Similar to the book of Psalms, it contains 17 tracks of anointed truth ranging from serious to witty to passionate and humorous. He gives a biblical point of view to a wide range of popular subjects, comparing Jesus with Superman in "Jesus in Comparison to Superman", discussing the state of HipHop music today in "An Ode to HipHop", as well as giving a timely message to today’s singles with “Keep it Holy”. He gives a compelling history lesson in “Generation Gap” and “This Generation” and also has something for the sisters with “Sistah”.Saint Shawn attends services and teaches sunday school and bible study at St. Paul Calvary Church of God In Christ under the pastoral leadership of Pastor P. Anderson.Saint Shawn is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science degree in Visual Communications. He enjoys doing graphic design in his spare time.Saint Shawn has ministered spoken word at Crenshaw Christian Center’s “HipHop Sunday”, West Angeles Church of God In Christ’s, “Koinonia and Koffee”, Spoken word Café, Bible Enrichment’s “Judah Box”, Carson Community Center, The Take over show, The Poetic Hour, Gospel Talent Unlimited and many more.
