About Me

Originally born in the Netherlands, I stayed there untill 1981, in the most Southern province of Limburg. In 1981 I went to West Berlin and ended up staying for eight years. When I left Berlin around July/August 89, I was under the impression that the Berlin Wall would be up there for the rest of my life. How wrong I was in my believe was proofed a couple of months later when the Wall came thumbling down, almost with the speed of light.I moved back to the Netherlands and worked for a booking Agency, based in Nijmegen, that organised European Tours for Alternative bands. Mainly American bands but some Australian bands as well. In the late 8tees this turned out to be something I saw no future in and I became a tourmanager for some of those bands for the last couple of years I lived in the Netherlands.Since diving always was one of my hobbies, along with travelling, at some stage I decided to become a dive professional, and slowly I started to carve out my path into this direction. My initial PADI Open Water certification I got in Roatan/Honduras followed by my PADI Advanced Open Water course at the Gili Islands in Indonesia, all my other courses after this were conducted in Thailand. My Rescue and Divemaster courses I completed in Phi Phi Island in respectively 1997 and late 1998 and in February 1999 I became a PADI OWSI by attending my IDC and IE in Pattaya. My Course Director was Jamie McLeod. In late 1999 I moved to Koh Samui with an Instructor job waiting for me at the Imperial Boathouse. Giving myself 6 months to see if I could make a living out of this, I find myself now 8 years later still on Koh Samui, being married to my lovely wife Tassanee, having build a house here and having two children running around in it.My diving career gave me more than I initially expected and hoped for. I became a PADI Course Director in April 2003 in Kota Kinabulu, Malaysia. Currently I'm the in house PADI Course Director for Samui International Diving School on Koh Samui, Thailand, since the last 4 years, a company I've been with for the last 7 years.
