About Me

Chris Jaiden(Vocals/Lyricist/Co-writer) met Jake Chaplin(Lead Guitar/Producer/Co-writer) again in the winter of 2006 after not seeing each other for about 4 years. They were both in the same place in their music careers and were on the same path at the time of their meeting this time and decided to start creating music together. Chris decided to move up to Pacifica with Jake to create musical soundscapes under the name reflektiv. Chris came up with the name to describe the way that he composed lyrics reflecting on our souls journey through life. "With a soulful, lyrical approach to life’s deep moving waters and developed instrumentation, reflektiv moves from art rock expressionism to hard rock swagger with deft ability and impassioned direction. At times reminiscent of “Ten” era Pearl Jam, Reflektiv also reflects “Pablo Honey” era Radiohead, and the expressive depth of Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley’s side project Mad Season, all of which are listed as influences on the band’s myspace."-(JC Haydon, reviewer of Your Music Magazine). After we cut 12 demo songs in 6 weeks we decided to create a full live band. The live lineup for reflektiv in 2009 consists of Scott Galloway on rhythm guitar, Erik Valentine on bass, and Clark Gardner on drums & Percussion. Vinnie Richardson(Fighting Jacks/ Nraevis/Groove Level2) came into contact with Chris and Jake and began playing drums with reflektiv in early 2007. Rick Halverson started playing for reflektiv shortly after on rhythm guitar through 2007. Misha Guiffre(The London/Atomic Mint) later joined in on bass in the summer of 2007 to play live for reflektiv. We then decided to cut our first 4 song self-titled EP in the summer of 2007 at Last Drop Studios in Santa Clara, CA. The EP was produced by Jake Chaplin(Chaplin Productions). Jake Chaplin also plays bass on the recording of the EP. Our full length album will be coming out in the near future. reflektiv is a representation of life and death and and all of the events your soul experiences on its way through existence on this place that we call earth. "Are you in? Summon the spirits if you dare...".

Sounds Like: With a soulful, lyrical approach to life’s deep moving waters and developed instrumentation, Reflektiv moves from art rock expressionism to hard rock swagger with deft ability and impassioned direction. Having seen them at a well-attended VooDoo Lounge on a Wednesday night, I feel qualified to state that the band draws a dedicated core audience and that they are making moves to generate an expansive fan base with their contagious energy. At times reminiscent of “Ten” era Pearl Jam, Reflektiv also reflects “Pablo Honey” era Radiohead, and the expressive depth of Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley’s side project Mad Season, all of which are listed as influences on the band’s myspace. The homage is tasteful, and their direction promises a succinct niche for Reflektiv in San Jose and the greater Bay Area.
