About Me

Layout Created at KillerKiwi.net
/////i've been recording minimalist compositions since 2001, using creative soundblaster live and adobe audition software - with interests in texturing & layering./////...i've been inspired to create tracks derived from contemporary sounds in electronica, percussion, indirectly related to an experimental process. admittedly, most of my tracks come from generic sampled loop collections but i'm very interested in collecting organic sounds and those from interested parties./////...i appreciate all genres and sub-genres of electronica and especially the chilled out vibes of drum & bass. also like the nu-jazz/down-tempo sultriness, the temporal/cerebral nature of ambient and the heavy bass of house./////...very much inspired by scenery so there's usually an element of the visual in my music./////...i'm sometimes an amateur dj./////...my experience with live music has been deeply intensified especially when listening to improvisational jams with audible undertones and electronic experimentation, such as with early pink floyd, & sonic youth, for example./////...i like music that's honest, which may have slight imperfections, i don't think electronica needs to deny this constant, which is why i like to introduce arbitrary elements within my compositions and perhaps force them into new sound (in bodhigamma remix I'd recorded the sound of a bus, in NYC, which was used as a clip emulating the sound of waves crashing in the Pacific)./////..."good morning sweet p" was mixed in nyc in 2005. "opaque civilisation revisited" was partially mixed in tampa bay, & nyc during 2005 + 2006. "bodhigamma remix" was mixed july 2007, in nyc, while "la scenic byway" was mixed feb 2006 and remixed oct 2007, in denver./////...i also work full time as a bim (building information modeling) specialist for a canadian company. (constructor; archicad; autocad) which influences my technique greatly-while plugging into digital music, of course./////...i attended school of visual arts (sva) in manhattan and concentrated in sculpture, drawing, and assemblage art./////...other hobbies include design work, website building, virtual design, skiing (alpine; telemark), snowboarding, fly-fishing, mountain biking, running, & painting./////...photographs and digital renderings appearing as graphics are from my personal portfolio./////

Influences: /////a few collected rave cd's from the early to mid 90's (with trance, jungle, and dub styles). i'd had limited exposure to electronica up until the influence became more mainstream./////...in 1999 peter kruder's peace orchestra 2000 (also have "shining" remixes on vinyl) and his k&d sessions, from 1998, w/ richard dorfmeister, made a profound impact on my listening focus...also listened to their dj kicks album, from 1996, and conversions, from 1999, quite a bit./////...certainly have used these cd's plenty since they have scratches all over them now./////...while revisiting these mixes frequently, for inspiration, i draw from their down-tempo and trip hop mixes and listen just to chill out to./////...i really dig the sultry coolness of these compositions and the faster-tempo stuff as well - a major contribution to the drum & bass sub genre. i'm influenced by their approach to de-constructing sound while generating heady jams & rhythmic soundscapes./////also/////music for the film koyaanisqatsi, by philip glass/////...i also enjoy genres such as bossanova, blues, fusion jazz, ambient, psychedelic, reggae, funk, punk, classic rock, indie rock, post rock, house, and r&b. other influences, in a wide spectrum, include pink floyd, chemical brothers, sonic youth, sergio mendes, brian eno, phillip glass, massive attack, thievery corporation, daft punk, fatboy slim, orbital, & tortoise (to name just a select few).
