About Me

They're a duo - heavy on the acoustic and heavy on the rock, with a sprinking of psychedelia thrown in for spice. Karen's versatile voice handles everything from 60s rock to her own edgy originals with power and dynamism. She loves to belt it out, but can also sing sweet and soft. Same goes for her guitar playing - lots of rhythm, lots of speed; but she also composes pastoral melodic tunes showing her folk and prog-rock roots. Lead guitarist Joe Pla adds wonderful colors. His style is retro, ranging from Mod to psychedelic - always melodic sometimes crazy like good rock lead guitar should be. Karen and Joe have been playing together for 2 years, and have traveled the East Coast from Massachusetts to Virginia. They hit festivals, house concerts, coffee houses, private parties, film series and church concerts. They're doing pre-production on new tunes, and should have a new 8 song CD out by next summer.

Ball Busters and Wine

Just  got back form the studio - 6/8 on B'way in NYC. Very cool place, indeed - Perkin - the engineer and owner is a very cool guy and has great ears. The mix may not be 100%, but it's  about 95%. We ...

STONER!! And Blisters

Just finished rehearsing  - in and of itself no big deal, but Joe's been up since 4 AM - he had to work out in Parsippany at 5. Ungodly, I tell ya, totally ungodly. Anyway, we had a good rehearsal  ge...

Tess of the D'Urbervilles

Second time reading this - pretended to read it high school, but really read just enough to get an A on the test. Anyway, what a horrid little story. I'm not sure what Hardy's point was in writting th...

Bronchitis

I'm not usually up this late - or have we crossed into 'early' at this point? I think it's early. Regardless,  here I am. Why am I up at such an ungodly hour - sober, serious, hard-working musician an...

Sympathy for the Devil

I've been reading a biography of Aliester Crowley. Apart from being a big old  narcissist (and an incorrigible abuser of women), it seems that he was, at his best, a genuine spiritual seeker. He was a...

Better Than Hell

A rather prosaic post, today, but this is what's going on. I'll be back to  being outraged in a few days - if the weather holds out, I'll be back on the bike on the road.  Whoopie! Nothing like the Ne...
