About Me

Well it goes something like this: I started touching the guitar when I was still in diapers sitting on my dad's lap while he played guitar. That's when my love of the guitar started and also my love for music. I got my first guitar when I was about 3 or 4, it was a little honky tonk guitar my dad got my brother and I from Montgomery Wards or Sears. Not long after that my brother and I started breakdancing and singing in plays (which my mom would make us sing for the rest of the family) and by the age of 10 I started playing the trumpet. We used to watch videos on MTV and pretend we were rockstars. When I was 12 I saw this video in band class about the blues and I saw this guy playing the bass; I was changed forever-I knew there was nothing else I wanted to do with my life. I went home and told my parents to please buy me a bass. I ended up with a cheap electric guitar and I played that thing util it was no more. I've been writing songs since the age of 13 and having always been exposed to hip hop and eventually other styles of beats I became a beat junkie. I eventually became a producer and sound designer, learned to play piano, bass, sing/rap/spoken word poetry (classically trained), dj, and percussion. I tried a stint at the flute as an adult, but didn't quite put the time in. I continually study music and have broadened my horizons into composing, and also became and audio engineer and promoter of live events.___ div style="position:absolute;left:0px;top:0px;

My Interests

Music:

Member Since: 28/04/2005
Band Members: Just me-Phyresyde-otherwise known as RED or Randy Sullivan, though I also play guitar and am the band leader for The Gizmo Experience as well as producer and guitar/bass player for R&S Solutions/Rhythm and Sound. I also play guitar for singer/songwriter Jamie B.
Influences: I think one of the most influential artist in my developement was, has been, and always will be James Marshall Hendrix-otherwise know as Jimi Hendrix. Probably one of my second most influential groups has been The Red Hot Chili Peppers and John Frusciante. Others in no order include: Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Cream, Harry Chapin, John Denver, Ozzy Osborne, Metallica, Marvin Gay, John Lennon, Tool, Pink Floyd, U2, Van Halen, Steve Vai, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Rush, Faith No More (espeicially Mike Patton), Kurt Cobain and Nirvana, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gilespie, John Coltrane, Chuck Berry, Ani DiFranco, Jimmie's Chicken Shack (the original line up), Rabbit in the Moon, Kruder and Dorfmeister, Massive Attack, Lake Trout/Big in Japan, Run DMC, Tribe Called Quest, Outkast, Public Enemy, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, The Grateful Dead, Willie Nelson, Johny Cash, The New Deal, The Police, Peter Gabriel, Sound Tribe Sector Nine, Primus, Black Sabbath, Pantera, Prince, Micheal Jackson (you can't tell me Billy Jean doesn't make you want to groove), The Beach Boys, David Bowie, Beethoven, Edgar Vuarez, John Cage, The Doors, The Lemon Heads, Blues Traveler, Incubus (which gets a lot of influence from Faith No More and RHCP), Korn (long ago the first album rocks), and I could probably keep on listing. I grew up influenced by folk, classic rock, hip hop, old country, jazz, blues, bluegrass, classical, metal, rock, pop, funk, grunge, alternative, and grew to love beats from house, to breakbeats (which is what I love), drum and bass, downtempo, acid jazz and more. I absolutely love music and it's my drug to say the least. I'm addicted and I never want to stop my addiction! ___
Sounds Like: A good songwriter and producer. I make so much music between all the projects I'm in it's hard to put me into one genre. I make a variety of beats, play a lot of electric guitar with my band www.myspace.com/gizmobmore, make hip hop and r&b with my partner Shaquan Don www.myspace.com/rhythmandsound, and also write alot of guitar and piano compositions. I've been told I write a lot of music that would do well for movies being I write with a lot of emotion. I also have a lot of singer/songwriter songs I play acoustically. These are from my heart and from my experiences. You can judge for yourself. _
